Mustang AUDIO performance thread

Ok I'll be the first one to start

Just ordered my Scoche custom stealth box that fits on the passenger side of the trunk where the Shaker1000 system has their sub. Here is a pic

With a Profile AP1000M Amplifier.... supposedly a very nice amp that puts out gobs of power

And to top it off the EFX scosche 4-Guage wiring kit

Never hooked up a sub and amplifier before so its going to be fun learning any suggestions would be appreciated!!

Sub and encloser together--$175 NEW on ebay (Crutchfield price: $200)

Amplifier--$89 NEW on Ebay (Crutchfield price:$165)

The 4 guage wireing kit was expensive $60 from Crutchfield

So $324 total for everything... not bad considering most Amplifiers cost that much nowadays

Jarrod I have some experience hooking up stereo equipment. I have to imagine that the installation should be pretty strait forward. But you may have complications connecting the factory head unit to your amp. If there are no RCA type jacks on the factory piece. Also are you wanting to run the new amp in unison with the factory amp? Or use the new amp as the sole power source for your new Sub only and power the high and mid speakers with the factory piece? This type of setup using the factory pieces can get rather complicated. You may want to consult with a professional.

Jarrod I was wondering if you are getting rid of your factory amp and sub? My car is the base unit with no heavy stereo stuff in it. Ordered Sans Shaker. (thats why it's so much faster) But If you are then I might be interested in taking them over?

The amp I purchased is mono amp and will be used soly for the Sub that I purchased. Not getting rid of the factory subs yet... going to use them for a while until I decide on what subs to replace them with and how I'm going to run them. I am hoping that I can just connect to the factory head unit. there has to be a way. hmmm that may be something I will have to research

If it is a mono amp you will only need one channel to feed into the amp from your head unit. In other words it's not necessary to have a stereo connection. That being said you may have to tap into the signal from the factory amp to the factory subs as this too is more than likely a mono line. I wonder if there is an extra "out" line from the factory amp that you could use to run the signal into your new amp and then to your new sub?

THe only problem is you really dont want a powered signal running into the new amp. You may have to use some sort of signal converter or somthing? This is where my experience ends and I really have no Idea.

Couldn't he just use a LOC? Does the amp have hi-level inputs? Or does the Shaker 500 prohibit this?

Anyway, suggestions - run the power wire down the passenger side. There's a grommet that is the single best place to run the wire through. Take off the front right tire, and the rear half of the fender liner and you'll see it. Trust me, it's easier than any other (non-rigged) way of running that wire.

Here's what I did, although I took it out now for racing.

Well that seems to be the million dollar question? Line out? I don't know. I think I saw someone posted a wiring schematic of the shaker system on here once. I may have to see if I can find it.
