$1800, Are you frickin kiddin me? What the hell ever. Not that Shelby autos needs the money or anything, but at that price they might sell a handfull of the hoods. Lower the price and sell 10X that and make more money. www.Theracecarfactory.com is looking better and better each day! Sorry Amy, but that price is insane!

I agree, I'd come closer to spending $849.99 + shipping over $1800.00 + shipping.

So, since the cheap knock off of the KR from SAI turned out to be an overpriced joke, anyone else working on a better looking and closer rendition of the KR hood? Heck I MIGHT have gone as high as SAI's price if the hood actually looked like the KR. In person, there is a world of difference.

Can anyone tell me why the above link is asking for a password and ID??? It doesn't ask for you to subscribe, just that it is a secure web site and needs a password and ID.

Searching the web turns up a race car factory in Stuart Fl and Erwindale CA but neither has a web site that shows products.

Well unlike most, I like the SS hood better than the KR hood. Don't get me wrong it's a nice hood and would be my second choice, but I really want the SS hood, just not the SS price tag.

Those hoods are pretty nice but seem to lack the openings for the hose holders/nozzles of the windshield washers.

You convert them to the squirters mounted on the wiper arm. They work great. I have seen them for sale at various Mustang sites.

I was not aware the price was locked down yet, as there is 2 versions, the plan hood and the hood with ram air and CAI, so I will check.

The add states that you get the Ram Air Hood w/Louvers and hood pins for $1799.99, I assume that shipping is NOT in that price.

So if there is another version of the hood with ram air and CAI, I’m sure it won’t be cheaper?!?!?

We can only hope because I love the hood and have the money to buy, but I also know not to buy something extremely over priced especially if the quality is not any better then the CS6 hood I bought for my 05 V6.

I loved the CS6 hood but I had 3+ hours just in clean up and prep before painting.

I just can't justify $1800 for a fiberglass hood. Yeah it's a great design, but come one. $1800? Amy say it's going to be cheaper please. I mean Cervini's makes some of the most quality hoods around and they aren't near that much.

The truly unfortunate thing is that SAI has left the door wide open for another vendor to ape their carbon fiber KR hood trumping SAI's fiberglass SS piece altogether. Frankly neither Ford or SAI can actually stop the since it isn't as though you could trademark the look of the 68 GT500's hood scoops by this point, and there are more than just a few companies with access to an autoclave so this isn't a stretch.

I can appreciate that SAI and Ford each want to keep the KR's extra bits exclusive, but in light of the above that isn't really a promise they can make simply by refusing to market it themselves. GT500 afficianados have alerady proven they are mor than happy to drop cash for what they want so it isn't as though this is a risky proposition. And since any vendor smart enough to figure this whole deal out would likely sell such a hood to every other GT500 owner on the planet SAI and Ford wont have done much
but cheated themselves out of more profit and a little goodwill.

I'm right there with you. If Cervini or one of the other high end fiberglass vendors had the KR clone out for even a premium over thier current offerings, I'd be in line to buy one. So will many others. It just has to look 'right' Really could care less if its fiberglass, CF or aluminum, as long as it looks like the real deal.

The thread is dying almost as fast as people's interest in supporting Shelby. It's sad that they are so obsessed with providing parts ONLY to people who make like $150,000 a year or so.

Let's face it people....the KR hood is not available and never will be. Shelby always knew it. It's reserved ONLY for the 1000 people who can afford a KR.

The SS hood is your only option. This was a bait-and-switch move, making us think that the KR hood would be available and then giving us only the faulty SS version.....and on top of that, you need to pay about $2000 to get it.

I've had it with Shelby. If they can't provide the public with parts when the public wants them, then they are no longer in the game. They have soooooo many fans, and yet they turn their nose up and laugh at us. SHAME ON SHELBY.
