Stress cracks in headlight lens / Hazed fog reflectors

While cleaning my car the other day I noticed that the both headlight lens had developed stress cracks, concentrated in the area of the lens where the light produced projects out the bucket. Most prominent when the lights are on, but still visible when off. In addition, similar to other members experience, the foglight reflectors were both hazed.

After pointing this out to my local Ford dealer, I was informed that they had not seen the stress cracks before but the hazing was to be expected. After hearing this, I expected that Ford would replace the headlights, but not the fogs. Long story short, I took it in yesterday and both headlights and fogs were replaced under warranty.

Now, a question for other '05 owners. I neglected to take a before shot and I'd like to compare the new headlight to the old. Can someone take a pic of your headlight paying particular attention to the shield that extends over the bulb? I seem to recall that the original was made of metal, but the replacement has a plastic shield. Thanks.

I asked my service advisor if the newer '07 style had been installed and he said no, the part numbers were identical. I can confirm the replacement reflectors have no halo.

Thats odd that are replacement housings, that aren't the 07 housings, why would ford go through all that trouble of making another set of housings for what purpose?

either way your car looks sick

I would think the idea is that if you had one damaged headlight on an 05/06, the replacement would still match.
