Slotted Rotor Issue/Question
Slotted Rotor Issue/Question
I have about 15k on a set of Power Slot Slotted rotors and now getting a pulsing when braking. What are your thoughts on resurfacing them - who has done it - will it help or do I need to spend more $$$$ and buy a new set? Any draw backs if I find someone to do it?
Of course, he's talking on a ProCut machine. It *could* be done with the tipped lathes, but I would be hesitant with the holes/slots. The wetstone version at a higher speed is a better idea for this.
Now, the thought process is that the slots would be less deep, so you'd introduce more heat than you would if they weren't machined down.
The question really is this: Why are you thinking about doing this? Are your rotors warped? And if so, why?
Excepting an exceptionally warped or grooved disc, there's no need to shave 'em. Mine are on their 3rd set of pads in her life, and on three of the original four discs, and I've never turned them. Stops just fine, quiet, no vibrations, full confidence in her stopping power. In case that matters.
/I'm sure I'm gonna be slapped around for preaching heresy on not turning rotors. Whatevers, I can take it, I have my experience sayin' different.
if you decide that you need new rotors I have the same set of EBC dimpled and slotted rotors for sale from my 07 GT. I had it on the car for less than a week before I traded my car in. PM me if you are interested.
