The engine only cuts the fuel out long enough for the revs to go down to about 5800 or so, then lets it rip again. I've done a few doughnuts in parking lots before where it has been up against the limiter for 5-10 seconds. It goes up to 6250, then back down to about 5800, then gives it the gas again until it hits 6250...so on and so forth.

Why would the fuel pump cavitate? The TSB 06-9-9 wouldn't cause it, the pump would be pumping enough fuel at high speed/throttle load to keep bubbles from forming around the pump. Unless he was very low on gas and all the gas sloshed to the rear of the tank or something. I guess it could be from a bad fuel pump.

I guess the reason I wasn't understanding you properly, Metroplex, is that when you say "lean" it implies to me that there is combustion taking place, but at a reduced fuel/air ratio. If there is no fuel at all, I wouldn't consider that a "lean" condition. IMO there has to be some fuel for it to be lean. Sorry about the confusion.

I broke down secondary to the alternator wire not being connected with a new battery. I had a lot of failures one after the other, all preceded by check charging system warnings.

This really sounded like the fuel pump deal to me.

mine used to cut out and stall on me when i'm driving over 100mph and i fully depress the clutch to let it rev down freely..
eventually the RPM drops below idle, and the engine stalls.
it turns out my TB was faulty.
i had it replaced under warranty, and i haven't had that problem ever since

My Canadian destination car doesn`t have a built in speed limiter as the USA models have. When I do a SCT tune I have to go into extra parameters to remove there built in limiter.

I've run the car hard a few times since and haven't had the issue again. Looks like it was a one time deal. I'll probably get the fuel tank TSB done because I have experienced the lag on long trips.
