Oil pressure sending switch connected to ECU?

Can someone tell me if the sending switch goes straight to the gauge or does it connect to the ECU?

The reason I ask is if it goes through the ECU, we should be able to get a PID for the Torque smartphone App. I think a number of us would like that.

It has to be if the system check you can do from the dashboard checks oil pressure. I guess someone could check their SCT live link software and see if there is a PID in there (SCT has just about every PID that I've seen). Unfortunately I don't have the S/W installed on my computer anymore
