New exhaust rattle TSB released. Anyone have a copy they can post?
Hi all,
I read on another forum that Ford has updated the rattle/noise from center stack TSB (06-4-1).
The new TSB is 08-3-4 and replaces 06-4-1.
It supposedly involves removing the old hose clamp mod (which I have not done yet), and doing the new service procedure.
Anyone have a copy they can post? I have not gotten under the car yet, but I have a lovely 1200rpm exhaust buzz that is driving me up a tree and I have a feeling this might be the ticket.
Thanks!

So it's just eliminating the mid-mounts completely, now? Interesting...I'm surprised they don't have the techs cut off the hangers as well, just in case.

They remove the isolators because they were "only needed at assembly". So now if anyone removes the exhaust and tries to reinstall it, it'll take 6 hands to get it back in place.
Why didn't they remove the isolator, bend the pipe hanger to the 2" clearance and reinstall the isolator assy? Too much time involved? Does the exhaust shift so much under conditions it will still touch the isolator's steel bracket?
I don't have the vibration problem on mine, yet but I think I'd just try bending the pipe hanger first before removing the isolator permanently.

Can't fix it? Cut it off! That piece might technically be a "production line aid", but it SURE does make a world of difference when you are installing the H-pipe while laying on your back...

I had this problem with mine when I converted to duals, I had fixed it by bending the hanger and making sure it's right in the middle of the isolator, not touching any of the side walls of this hanger.
It worked fine with mine reducing drastically, but not completely eliminating the vibration. But nothing to complain about !

Mines doing this too. Had the original TSB performed and it went away for a little while but it has come back but not as bad as it used to be. Can you get a TSB performed even after your car has gone out of warranty? Im guessing you can, but will they charge you for it then?

idk.... I am certainly going to take a good look at those mounts and the bell housing inspection plate for possible rattles. But I am not so sure I will be hacking them off any time soon. I might just replace the mounts if they are shot.

I think my 08 has started doing this. I have about 9k miles and in the last week started hearing a rattle when in 2-3rd gear around 2k rpms....guess Ill be taking mine into the dealer.

For one who has been under the car messing with the mid-pipe too many times to count I agree. Though I don't know why they don't just tell you to cut off the hanger from the H rather than cutting off the mount from the crossmember. Seems a lot easier and less labor intensive...
