Oh dang,

there are 3 upstream sensors?

If the sensor is actually in the cat, is it considered upstream or downstream?

Still a bit unclear on that.

Upstream sensor(s) are between exhaust manifold and catalytic converter. Downstream sensor(s) are after catalytic converter. The upstream sensor is responsible for primary fuel control and the downstream sensor(s) after the catalyst are used to monitor catalyst efficiency.
