key gets snagged in ignition switch

Anybody have any trouble with their key getting hung in the ignition switch when they try to pull it out? It just started happening to me. It acts like a brand new key was just cut and hasn't had a chance to wear the burrs off.... but it's not a new key. It's a very worn-in key. I'm thinkin' the problem is in the switch assembly... but I wanted to know if anyone else had the trouble before I take it to the dealer.

Do you have auto or manual?
I have auto...and two times I have had some minor issues in getting the shifter in P, and if that happens the key is not possible to take out. Not sure why I couldnt get the shifter to go into P, but I backed the car up a little and forward again in the garage, and that helped.

It snags all the time. I have a manual. It just seems that the switch is getting worn out.. like internal parts aren't lined up properly.

Are you hanging lots of weight (extra keys) off your key ring? I found at work drivers with around 10 or more keys on one key ring would wear the key lock tumblers out prematurely.

a slight dab of lithium grease on the key may help, but I don't know all about the internals of the ignition mechanism

Sounds like a tumbler is hanging up. I would go ahead and try the dab of lithium grease and take the key in and out a few times and see if it helps. If not then a trip to the dealer may be needed. I know ford had a huge problem a few years back with the ignition locks on the Focus's Keys would get stuck and not come out and various other stuff.
