How often - Fuel Filter Change??

probably not a big deal that it was pointing the wrong way; the filter media might work a little better in the intended direction, but it's basically just a fine screen so I think it works pretty much the same in both directions; other than the potential flow issues like was already mentioned

Jaryd21, hey thanks for reviving my old thread as it reminded me to change mine again. I haven't done it since I posted in 2015. It's 29,000 miles later and due.

Did mine at 25k. Made certain to install with the arrow in the intended direction. Don't know about any negative issues if installed in the reverse direction

Hello-
First time posting on a Mustang forum. Last summer, I purchased a 2006 Mustang GT. The Mustang had 108K miles when I purchased it. The Mustang recently had a coolant flush along with a trans filer and fluid change. Late last week, I topped off with fuel at a local Sams Club (premium fuel) and within 2-minutes of driving off from the fueling station, the fuel gauge turned red and then went away after a couple of minutes past.
The Mustang sat for a 2-days, then I drove it roughly 1-mile and parked it for another day. This afternoon, I started the Mustang up and fuel light went red immeditely, then went away, but the check engine light appeared on the cluster. My next step is to take it over to a local autoparts store to have them place the diagnositc tool on it to pull code(s).
After reading some of the posts, I'm thinking the fuel filter is probably one of the components that must be replaced. I know the original owner and if I had to guess, the fuel filter was never been changed under their ownership. I recently recall having some issues over the past month (live in the mid-west) that it takes a little effort to restart the Mustang after it's turned off and started back up within 5-minutes (e.g. after refueling). I'm thinking the fuel filter is clogged and debris has not settled, since I don't experience this issue when the Mustang sits overnight (cold start). I typically refill regulary, so fuel level never gets below a 1/4 tank.
Any advice? Agree with my next steps?

yes I would definitely change the fuel filter, and I'm pretty sure it is located on the bottom of the car, roughly below the passenger seat, on your car
there are some other threads on here, and probably videos on YouTube, that show the details of how to change it. I believe you need to release the fuel pressure first, and know how to use the connector clips.

This thread really never gets old. Change those filters! It's not expensive.
FP_Mustang, how about those spark plugs?? If not changed yet, definitely think about it. I just did mine after 15 years and 62,000 miles. You can see what they looked like. https://themustangsource.com/forums/...-plugs-549063/

Thanks to the guys in here for great info. I've got an 05 Gt Premium I bought in 2008. Had 18k on it then and now has 40k as of this post. It's definitely only a weekend toy.. I haven't done the fuel filter but I'm about to run 700 miles out to Cali from Utah so it's a good idea to do the filter now. Can't wait to see what it looks like..
