ford sucks as far as their hood painting goes. Then again why should they care it will never rust through so they won't have to cover anything, after the 3 years that is. Hey good for them. Flipping the bird at them right now.

I've seen extremely few cars with actual rust holes - perforation - of any model or make going back 20 years - not just Ford. Lots of surface rust though. I think that all of the mfgrs offer these perforation warranties because they know its not likely to happen and it gets them off the hook for rust. And besides, if a car did rust all the way through it would probably take well longer than the warranty period to happen.

Uh where do you live? New England, come see truck bumpers, wheel wheels, etc. Bronco's & F150's of the mid 90's particularly the rear wheel wells. Dodge rams the bumpers. Toyota Tacomas the entire frame Toyota is buying them back above blue book. Subaru Imprezas 2001 and earlier the rear wheel wells.

I live in Alabama. But I lived in Wisconsin prior. Most of the rusted-through that I recall seeing was on cars older than 90s. Maybe some pickups had a few holes back then, but a decent amount of surface rust on other cars.

Well, end of the bad hood story I hope. Got my car back yesterday from local Ford Autohaus in Vaihingen with a new hood and red paint to boot...No $$$ or Euros out of my pocket for that 2400 Euro job...then took car to another place to get the hood stripes redone and that will cost me 200-250 Euros...all in all I'll be happy to have my Mustang back in a week or so!

Folks, a recent, other, thread about this had me look about, and it turns out that Mustang isn't the only one 'rusting' their hoods, Escapes, F150s, Flexs, you name it... it's Ford's process, period.

There has to be a class action being contemplated for all aluminum hood owners of Ford, one would think... and that other thread had a link for a lawfirm that was explaining this a little.
