My car is going is Monday. I have already spoken to the Service Writer about it and I know the parts guy pretty well so I had him get the pump so they would have it in stock when i brought the car in. My problem is that the car requires it to be driven at least 40 miles or more before it happens. I also presented the Service writer with the TSB and he said well we cannot simply replace the pump because you have the TSB. I said I understand that but you cannot expect me to let your tech take my car out and put almost 100 miles on my car and still not have the problem occur since it does not do it every time I take a long drive. I really hate dealing with this dealership. I had my car in twice for warranty issues and twice the car came back with cosmetic damage and one of those times it also had rubber all down the rear quarter panels from the tech doing burnouts. So he took my car on a test drive for a faulty blinker issue I had.

I've read some posts that claim their service manager is reluctant to replace fuel pump and sending unit TSB 06-9-9. Don't let the service manager yank you around! Ford has issued orders to take care of this TSB for anybody that states their having this problem!......the reason some service departments drag there feet is simple Ford will only reimburse the service department for about 1.2 hours on labor for this TSB! The service department that replaced mine had done 10 of these TSB's on Stangs and said it actualy takes about 2.5 to 3 hours to do it!!

replaced with no questions asked

Took mine to Young Ford here in Charlotte, I told them the problem, said they were aware of the problem, fixed , no questions asked. I also mentioned the problem fellow Mustang owners are having with a water leak in the pass side floor board, showed them the water is wet. they have a guy that is one of his specialties is water leaks, he was already aware of the leak problems, sealed were he found water coming in during water test, and also everywhere in cowl and firewall that could also be leaking, and they ordered me a new carpet, they said they weren't going to even try and clean it! I've never had any probs out of my dealer.....thier great!!!!!!!! Yeah! don't let them jerk you around, I was told they were suppose to replace , no questions asked

No Problem Here Either

Went in first thing this morning for the new fuel pump and it took just under 1.5 hours from start to finish which included their coffee break LOL. I went in on fumes so I think a light gas tank and not having to pump fuel out makes it easier for them. Afterwards I put $40 worth of gas in which at $2.499/gal was 16.0 gallons on the nose. I couldn't believe I fit that much in there. Must have been really low.

$2.49 a gallon? You're lucky man... CA fuel prices are through the roof... I just filled up @ $3.14/gallon.. and that's 87 octane!

My car has been plagued with this problem since day 1. I have always been very hesitant to allow a dealer to touch my car, so it was never fixed and I am now out of warranty.

My question is this: Is there anyone else who has had the problem, has NOT had it fixed, but has noticed that it is not as bad as it used to be?

My car used to do it almost every day. My commute has not changed at all, but now I rarely have this issue. I’m not complaining because I considered it dangerous as well as embarrassing when it happened, but just wondered if anyone else has had the same experience.

I had mine fixed yesterday. They were a little hesitent and I don't think they understood what the problem was. They wanted to drive it to see if they could see it happen. I told them that they wouldn't find it unless they put it on the highway for a couple of hours, and maybe not even then.

Mine isn't driven a lot. 8200 miles sine Nov 2005. I have had it happen a few times and dismissed it as a possible computer tweeking side effect. I didn't think I would get the dealer to fix it if I couldn't reproduce it for them.

I am taking it to Oklahoma next month so we'll see if it is fixed.

I also talked to an aquantance on Tuesday that has the problem with a 05 and also wasn't aware that there was a solution.

Car is back and Fuel Pump has been replaced. Thankfully i know the parts guy and had him order it two weeks ago knowing i would be bringing the car in. That way I did not have to take it back if they would have had to order the part.

Is It On Record?

Did you ever complain to the dealer about this problem even once prior to your car going out of warranty? Even though you're past the warranty period, if there is a record of the problem being reported prior to the expiration, it still should be covered. I'd discuss it with the dealer because it really is a safety issue.

Good point, but it was never reported to the dealer and I'm no more likely to let them touch my car today than I was last year. It's in remission right now so I'm not too woried about it. If it has to be fixed someday I will do it.

Not all Ford dealers are D***s

I took mine to my dealer( Young Ford in charlotte ), told them about the hesitation, They said "no problem "that they were aware of the TSB. I also asked them about the firewall leak, said that they haven't heard about them! then I told them about what I heard on mustang forums I filled them in on where probs have been found, they took care of it and noticed how musty the carpet smelt, so they put new carpet in and it fits and looks better then the factory. My dealer rocks!

Maybe I will get some help here...
I have had this problem too and actually called my Ford Dealer who conveniently has never heard of this TSB... I made an appointment for this Friday at 8am.... I'll print out the TSB and bring it with me... Now my biggest concern is this:

Do I need to put my stock intake back on and put the stock tune back in? Guys who have done this and have an aftermarket intake and tune what did you do? I been told that the Ford computer can delete your tune and render ur programmer useless because it will no longer recognize your car....

Yes i put everything back to stock that way they could not try to claim the intake and tune was the problem. You also need to go to this thread and print it out and read what you must do with the tune after removing it so that you have no issues after taking the car into the dealer in case they reflash the ECM.

I had no problems with a CAI, Throttle Body Spacer, Headers, Exhaust and a tune. The dealer gave me no problem and neither did the computer. In fact I dismissed the whole problem myself as probably the result of one or more of these things for more than a year. It was this thread that made me realize that there really was a problem. I had it fixed before going to Mustang, OK last month and didn't have it happen once.

I also got the clutch pack in the rear end replaced yesterday with another TSB I found on here after hearing a groan in the rear end while turning.

That's great that your dealer is ok with MODs many are not and it is better safe than sorry and then have to deal with BS.

Something tells me that if every Ford dealership behaved this way, Ford would be in better shape overall. I know my chief complaint with the company (including it's products) is the completely inconsistant nature of the dealer base. You can easily go to 5 dealers and get 5 different answers about problems such as this. The funny part is at least 1 of those responses will likely be "We don't know anything about that". How embarressing and frustrating for customers. We have to download our OWN TSBs and present them to a service dept that has no idea about it, or is PRETENDING they don't know about it. Do you think BMW dealership service would behave this way?

They should take this exceptional dealership and make them the model for the ENTIRE DEALER BASE.

got the car back, after 4 days. they wouldnt replace the fuel pump again, since it already had the anti foam one installed. they replaced 2 coil packs and spark plugs, and told me this will fix it. they said a ford engineer had them diagnose the coil packs, and they found i think the #1 and #3 to be messing up when hot. i dunno doesnt sound right to me, the car has been running great except for the hesitation after a long cruise. they said if this doesnt fix it, then they will slap in the fuel pump.

No luck for me. I called Covert Ford in Austin TX and told them this has happened to me on long drives to Dallas and Houston 3 times in the last 9 months. They said they won't replace the fuel pump unless they experience this problem themselves when I take it in. So in short Covert Ford sucks. Anyone in Austin able to get this TSB taken care of?
