I've been listening to this rattle forever (well, one of the rattles, as a lot of the car makes strange noises)... it's in the doors.

Apparently, it's the piece behind the door handle on the inside. If you think of the little area where the door handle is as a room, it's the far wall. It's not securely affixed to the rest of the thing and it rattles all the time... both doors.

What a major pain having to listen to that everywhere I go.

Anyone else noticed this? Do you have any idea what part I'm talking about?

Yeah, I had the same thing. It's just a bad fit. Too loose. I wedged a little piece of tape in the gap and it's been silent. If it comes back I'll dab a little super glue on it.

Now the rattle underneath the passenger side dash... still haven't rid the car of that.

My problem over there is when the air/heat is on. If you turn on the heater/defroster on the lowest speed (1) you can hear a little motor running down there.

Does yours do that?

I do hear some motor noise with the heater/defroster on jfrayzier. Unfortunately this is probably the less annoying rattler I have in my car

OI! I thought I was the only one!!

I only started hearing mine in the drivers side door after a dealer took it apart to replace a bent window seal. I've taken it back twice and it's still not fixed. I've told them that it sounds like it's coming from the handle area but no dice.

I'll give this a try - if I ever meet you, I'll buy you a beer!

You guys know me! Always had one trouble or another with it. Well I've started having this rattle a month or so ago, and never bothered to take it in or ask on here, figured "it's just one more rattle to heck with it". It seems that piece of plastic was cut small and its not in with pressure so it slides around behind the door handle in it's frame.

I find that when I put my thumb up to it and push down on it or move it to one of the sides it stay put for awhile then it starts vibrating more. It's way more noticeable on the driver door than passenger. The did a horrid job with fitting the trim and plastics on our cars it looks like. Very crude assembly. I think legos fit together and more snug better than what they've done.

I guess you could glue it down or caulk the edges. Hmmm....clear seal or caulk...now there's something I haven't thought of before?!!

Anybody want to be brave and use clear calk around all the dash and loose parts and see if it isolates the rattles? I dont' if I'm up to it cuz if it works I'd be willing to settle for the look of it, but if it doesn't then you have rattle and the clear cault to look at. Unless of course you do it really well to where no one can see.

My passenger door rattled since the day it was new. I've had a new door panel from Ford but no fix. It's still rattling and I've just called them to get it fixed and then I found this topic - very cool.

I'll play with it this weekend before I send to the dealer and tell him about this.

I realize this is a Mustang forum, but on the C5 Corvettes, the inner door panel is made of styrofoam, and there is no coating on it to prevent it from squeeking against the door. The simple fix was just to coat the inside of the door panel with duct tape or felt, and the squeek was gone. I suspect inserting some foam between the panel and the door frame will be an easy fix, provided you know how to take the door panel off.

Ok, couldn't wait until the weekend. I tested those little panels behind the handle and sure enough, they rattled. I popped them off using a wide bladed screwdriver and stuck on some self adhesive foam insulation, I bought from ACE Hardware many moons ago.(Its about 3/8" wide and 3/8" deep) Pushed the panels back on and hey presto, they seal tighter than a ducks butt and no rattle. (No caulk or glue required)
Next rattle please !! Have foam,Will silence.

Now, how would you know how tight a duck's butt is?

I just put foam tape on mine as well. Works great !! While I was at it, I pulled off the covers behind the pull handle and added foam there as well. Sounds GREAT so far !

I had the same rattle. I took the piece off and put some thick double sided tape on it a put it back on. Stopped the problem.
