I installed my Flowmasters tonight and the car sounds pretty good. I noticed a good bit of difference in the power from 2000 to approx 3500 rpms plus it sounds much nicer.

Do I need to disconnect the battery to allow the system to relearn itself or do I just drive it?

Nope, I did not and did not notice any issues except turning my stereo down to listen to the pipes.

I felt a lose in power when I put on my Flomasters, so I reset the computer and all was good afterwards.

 

You don't have to reset the battery. If you do, the car may be a little quicker to recognize the new exhaust and accomidate for it. But if you do that, you reset everything else in the car... including the shift points it has spent so long to learn. Don't unhook the battery and just let the computer catch up on it's own. It's not going to take very long at all, and you should soon be feeling even more power. The sound should also get a little better after the first few hundred miles. Why would you need to do that? Its just a pair of mufflers.

 

Probably because a slight change of back pressure since there might be a slight less restriction with these Flowmasters. These cars are all computers now. Has to learn new parts.

 

I'd do it. Not sure about the instructions with the flowmasters but the instructions with my magnaflows specifically stated (even in bold letters) that you must disconnect the battery before connecting the mufflers). I spoke to a buddy who works at a muffler shop and he said they have to do that with the majority of newer vehicles.

 

I never reset mine after install. The only thing I noticed different was the sound.
