First rattle in my car
Ok my 05 has just developed a rattle. It comes from the dash above the tach on top of the dashboard. As a matter of fact you can stop it by pressing down on the top of the dash above the tach. It mostly happens when the outside temp is cool. I hate to have the dealer take apart the dash to fix it (read, "I don't trust them"). Is there a fix that I can try for this. I think I remember someone here mentioning a rattle above the tach but I don't remember how they fixed it. Any ideas appreciated.

You have an 05, and you're just now getting your FIRST rattle? You are one lucky sob.
BTW, I have the same rattle (as well as several others) and haven't yet found a solution. I even took the the front of the dash off (gauges and all) and put foam tape on everything I thought could be causing it. Didn't work. I give up. Good luck.

I found out that a friend of mine here in town, works for a Ford dealership and he had the same rattle in his 05. He had the dealership install sound insulation and that fixed the problem. He also said that the 07 cars come with that insulation. So I will be bringing my car to them and hopefully that will fix the rattle in my dash.

Amazing that this is your first rattle. My first rattle was fixed by letting several other rattles settle in and get to work. I barely notice that first rattle any more.

Same rattle same spot for me. I have had a paycheck stub stuffed in at the pillar to push down on it in this cold weather. Once it is warm it is not so bad. Love my car, hate the rattles.

I had the dealer install a few felt strips between the a-pillar and the dashboard. That is where the squeak/rattle is probably coming from. It was a simple fix, and did not require the dash to be removed. Just the a-pillar cover.
