ESP Warranty

Do I have to be the original owner to purchase an ESP?

If so, do I have any other extended warranty options?

Thanks

So long as the original bumper to bumper warranty exists you can purchase a ESP, and no you dont have to be the original owner.

I have about 3k miles before my b2b is up, and about 2 months. I have been debating purchasing one, I cant seem to decide.

Make sure that you look over the various options on the ESP. There are many differences in prices and value to your particular situation.
Most important...
ANY DEALER CAN SELL YOU A FORD ESP.
All dealers must honor them.
Shop carefully for the best price for the type you want.
Remember that you have until the end of b to b to buy it.
Put this question to our helpful "Ask the Ford salesman" forum section. They can even give you prices and deals.

Had I kept my '05 v6 I would have definitely gotten an ESP. At 33,000 miles the steering rack was replaced, a little too close for comfort for me. 3,000 miles later and it would have cost me about the same for the rack as for the warranty. If I keep my '06 GT for the long haul I will probably get the ESP just because there have been some potentially expensive problems that ultimately were never solved by Ford in the later model years. Besides, it's not that expensive considering what you get.

Having said all that, I'm someone who can't/won't work on her own car so everything is going to cost me, even the little stuff.

Go to Fordwarrantys.com, the ESP will cost a few hundred dollars less and they will also send you a goofy coupon for more $$ off. This is a legitimate Ford dealer and the ESP is legitimate - I asked at my local dealer.

Hey I didn't know that - I'll ask over there for sure before I buy from the website I mentioned. Thanks

Having worked at dealerships, my thing is that I am scared to death of them working on my car.
I would rather do it myself than let them do it.
I suppose if I ever run into a serious issue (i.e. steering) before the b to b runs out I will have to bite the bullet.
Of course, my warranties usually run out at around 14,000 mi.

I don't know why I don't trust this particular line of mustangs so much more than any others I've owned. I never even considered an ESP before with the others. Maybe I just wasn't aware before I started reading here in 2004? Maybe it's because I keep spending buckets of $$ on my house and a $1500 repair would kill me?!

I know! I have an idea! Let's trade! You can fix my car and I will fix your house! I can lay all your tile, hang your crown, reframe your doors, lay your paver patio, build your kitchen cabinets.....heck, I can even take down your walls and put them back up where you want them! Whadda ya think?

You think I only work on cars?
You should see the tile in my downstairs bathroom.
Ever tile a ceiling? Rewire a house?
Seriously, as I told my friend with her '65 Mustang.
You get it to my house, and I'll get it on the road.
Of course, she only lives at the other end of town (but I did get it to pass state inspection again and it came on a flatbed).

Thanks Karman. Eyes are a little weary (just finished my 17 round 10 team Fantasy Football draft).
