Door Rattle

Anyone have a door rattle near the handles? It's almost like something is loose internally. I am going to take the car in and was wondering if anyone else is having the same issue?

it's probably the interior door handle cover which is a little piece of plastic behind the door handle covering up the trim panel bolt.
just push it with your finger and try to move it.. it usually has a free play of 1-2mm and that causes it to rattle

I already tried that. I put my finger behind the handle and applied pressure. The rattle was still there.

I had my door panels off today and there is also a plastic panel behind the the armrest. Both of these plastic covers that are behind the door handle and the armrest seem to be prone the rattling. It would be no probelm to put a small piece of foam behind them.

Silver Horse Racing has a "how to" remove door panel for their installation of the interior door handles. This would be very helpful for you if you decide to remove the door panel.

+1 on the interior door handle cover rattle.. mine is a minor annoyance. Just curious: what's the fix to secure the backing plate?

I'll just have my dealer fix it under warranty. I need to take the car in anyways and will provide them with the information from this thread.

My dealer has ordered two new inserts to see if that stops the rattle.

if it doesnt maybe a dab of silicone will do the trick.

he is also ordering the new master cylinder and exterior door handle.

had the parts to do the parking brake tsb

For the armrest panel, I removed both and applied sticky felt (one side of a 1.99 strip of velcro from any crafts store) to the top 2 sections (about a 1" square each) and a 2-3" long strip along the bottom of the panel itself directly underneath the latch hooks. No more panel rattles.

Also: I've been having a really annoying rattle that I thought was coming from the passenger side air vent on the dash, but it turns out it was coming from the little plastic cover behind the door panel!

I applied the sticky velcro felt to the backside of this cover, reinstalled, and no more rattle!! SUCH A RELIEF!

I repeated the procedure on the driver's side also, just in case.
