Check Engine Light Warning
Check Engine Light Warning
I've had my Mustang now for 6 years and 120 000 km. It is a GT convertible. Driving home from the mountains today the Check Engine warning lit up.
I need to take it in for the 120 000 km service anyway, and I do have the Ford extended warranty upto 150 000 km for 500 components.
What questions should I be asking before they start diagnosing the problem?
What is wired up to that light? What are some possible problems associated with it?
I just want to be informed before I take it in, as it may not be covered.
Cheers

I not well informed when it comes to these things.
Hmm. It got worse mileage on the trip, but not by a massive margin. Light didn't gone on until I was almost home. (I did hit a pretty big dip in the road, though). Still, is replacing the sensor a big deal?
Thanks for the help, by the way.

If you have an Autozone or an Advance Auto Parts near you, you can take it there. I know here in the states they will hook up the scanner and pull the codes for you for free. That is a good place to start
Best bet is to have a mechanic friend do it....or buy an OBDII reader for no less than $150
