Eliminating CEI and passing inspection after O/R X-pipe install
Hello all - I am about to purchase an O/R X pipe for my 2014 GT. My question is simple - what options are there available to clear the check engine light that appears as a result of deleting the catalytic converters? I've looked at MIL-eliminators, but they apparently won't work on a '14.
I'd like to avoid getting a tune for now (plan to do at a later date) if at all possible. A guy at my exhaust shop said his dad had some sort of "elbow mil eliminator" on his '13 GT500, but couldn't remember what it was called apparently...
So, Mustang Gods, what all are my options? Thanks.

Tune is the only thing that I know of. And if your area does tail pipe sniffs you'll still be out of luck.

You could always pull the negative battery cable to clear the codes but they will return within a few hundred miles. A tune is the only way plus you'll get the benefits of a few extra ponies from a tune.

Have you personally used these on your vehicle? I called AM today - they said the only way to solve the CEL is through a tune...unless they were just lying and trying to make a profit off of me (what company would dare do such a thing?). The guy said that it's impossible to "trick" the newer models computer with such a device due to smarter technology....according to him...

I personally never used them but there are a few guys on svt that have and said it has worked for them. It's worth a try if you don't wanna tune the car at the moment.
Also you have to remember that when you tune the car and go for inspection the car will fail when hooked up to the obd2 because the rear o2's will pop up as not ready.

That's good to know. When I had my 2011 GT with Bama tune it failed right away. I just did a off road on my GT500 with a VMP tune. I'm not up for inspection till next year. Hopefully their tune is like what you mentioned.
