Brake Squeal Issue

I have an '07 GT/CS with just about 12k and the brakes are squealing at times when I hit the brakes. Could it be time for pads? How long do you usually get out of the set of factory installed pads? If it is the pads any particular brand to use and also stay away from? I have done done anything to the brakes so they are all original.

As always thanks for the input.

Uhm, 12k is pretty early for pads, unless you have been riding the brakes or driving w/ 2 feet or something like that. I just had the brakes serviced in my car (00 Cougar) and they still squeal. It can be a lot of things, including heat. Do a few braking tests (in a safe area) and if the car still stops normally, don't bother replacing the pads. If your brakes are fading or if the car pulls to one side or the other under braking, it may be time to have the brakes checked/ pads changed. I hope that helps!
