2006 GT Soft Top

hi everyone,
this is my very post in this forum. i wish i can find help in here.

my convertible's soft top has come off the rear window. and Ford, US, rejected to replace the whole top on factory warranty since, they claim, they have NEVER come across similar issue with another car.
if anybody there went through similar issue, or came to know someone had, share the experience please.

kj217,

I was looking at TSBs for an issue I'm having with my convertible top and came across one that I believe is the problem you are experiencing. I looked up the TSB's through my local library. The TSB that you should research is: TSB 07-17-8, Convertible Systems Concerns. 'Issue: Some 2005-2008 Mustang convertible vehicles may require a repair of the convertible top. Individual components should be used where appropriate, but if required a new top assembly is now available. Action: Follow the Service Procedure steps. Causes to replace cover: 1). Top cover has a defect that can notbe repaired; 2). Rear window glass is separated from the top material.'

If you don't have access to Alldata or a similar program, either go to a dealer or find a member on here that works for a dealership that would be willing to help (I know there are more than a few on here that are extremely helpful!).

Good luck and keep us posted!

KJ, my top is separating from my rear glass window. Could you post a pic? I will take one and post also. Since my warranty is up it looks like I will eat the cost of my top, but the info might help others.

Let me know.

When I had the top cut problem, Ford denied it twice. Then I brought in photos from another member of the forum who did receive a top via a TSB replacement for the exact same thing. Then Ford gave in. To his credit, my service writer at the dealership kept after them, and was a great advocate for me.
