2006 GT Check Engine Light

I have a check engine light that illuminates peiodically. Some days it's on, other days it's off. Autozone said it was a Camshaft Position Sensor. But the dealer said that is was the alternator that could be potentially going bad. Said it would cost about $800-$900 for him to replace it. Anyone have experience with this situation?

camshaft sensor is only about 20 bucks at autozone and very easy to change. Its worth a try. While you are there ask them to check your charging system.

Thanks for the advice. I noticed that there are different styles of camshaft sensors that fit the 06 GT. I bought one and will try replacing one at a time to see if it fixes the issue.

I'd go have them check your charging system before thinking it's that. I've replaced mine several times, and it doesn't sound like the alternator.
