07 S197 V6 convertible, what else does it need to be a safe daily driver?
Hi,
I picked up a 2007 Mustang V6 P3 blue convertible base in April of this year. Had to drive it to the Bronx and Queens from NJ for my summer job, and banged it up a bit. I just got a job where I drive it 200 miles a day (to work and back), and my average cruising speed is 85 mph no traffic 100 miles each way. I want it to be a safe commuter car for this drive, until I can purchase a better daily driver for the winter. I just replaced a bunch of parts, but was wondering what else I should look at and replace. Frame is good, no rust. 138K on the 4.0. Here's what I replaced so far-
Friont Struts / coils - KYB struts +
Front sway bar stabilizer links - TRQ
Rear Shocks - KYB Excel-G
Battery - Duralast
Alternator - AC Delco
Tires - Firestone Weathergrip 16"
Coil Pack, wires - Motorcraft
Spark Plugs - NGK Iridium IX
Not sure what else I'll need to look at. Thanks in advance for any input.

Welcome,
A Picture is Worth a Thousand Words as Far as Judging Overall Condition of Car. Might Post Some For The Process!
The First Thing That Pops into my Head With Your Speed Driven Would Be a Very Good Check of The Driveshaft From Head To Toe and a New Clutch if a Stick and a Trans Service if an Automatic. The 5R55S is a Pain To Service Since it Has No Dipstick.
Also The S-197 is Real Bad on Having Water Leak into SJB in The Passenger Kick Panel. So a Check of The Cowl Area To Make Sure Drains are Open and Look Inside of The Kick Panel To Search For Moisture Which Could Cause Issues When Driven in Rainy Weather As It Can Cause a Host of Issues. Inspection of the Wiper Motor Drain as Well Would Be a Good Idea!
As Far as The Engine They Are Known For Timing Chain Issues So I Would Be Gentle on The Go Pedal as You Will Be Racking up a Ton of Miles. Keep that Oil Changed on Regular Intervals. A New Fuel Filter Would Be a Good Idea as Well! A Rear Diff Service is Probably Due and Could Save an Axle Repair.
Keep Your Ears Open For Any Odd Noises & Track Down ASAP To Catch Issues Early.
Anyhoo it's Late and That's All My Tired Mind Has at The Moment!
Most of The Areas I Have Pointed Out Are in Threads in This Section. See The Ones in The STICKY Section!
Here is One That is in Another Section Which Deals With The Wiper Issue!
