my 93 has a straight shift in it for now. 2nd gear is gone but were still driving it. After the tire blew out yesterday morning around 6 (OUCH talk about frigggin cold!) I went to move the car out of the road and off to the side of some folks driveway ... the car would hardly go into any gear. Nearly had to beat it into gear. Later that day when we went back to swap wheels. It was still hard to get into gear. But after running it for a while and I assume getting it warmed up it shifted fine again. Whats the deal with this?

 

I don't know much about the T-5's, However a certain ex-pres may want to chime in on this one.

Strictly guessing.......... Synchros??

Actually, sounds like what happened with mine.
Possible broken fork.

Won't really know until you tear it down.

But, just to be safe...
Drop the fluid.
Put in new Dexron III or better.
No fancy synth or such, just the regular stuff.
Takes 2.75 quarts.
See if that helps.

 

can i pull the auto set up from my 4 cyl and put into the v8? I know im gonna have to change gears but I still have the stock ones from my 02 that Im gonna have put in it. I just need to figure out if the auto tranny from a 4 banger will bolt up to a v8.. paul seems to think the bellhousing will be different. GAH. I will be lucky not to set this car on fire lol

 

The 4 cyl trans is an A4LD and will not interchange with the AOD or AODE trans' used behind the 5.0. kennyg

 

ah crap. Anybody wanna point me in the direction of the best route to buy everything i need to do an auto swap.... or im just considering now to rebuild the 5 speed
