yes the cobra suspension is different , it has a higher rate spring but also sits .75 inches lower front and 1 inch rear . stiffer shocks(Bilsteins) , also the cobra has big thick front and rear sway bars

you could go with some tokico shocks but it depends what you want

Then the Cobra driver wasn't pushing it, which is good on the street anyway...... The IRS is a far better suspension that the stock upper/lower trailing arm configuration. The IRS has its issues with the stock bushing material but once that is dealt with, it feels like a completely different rear end.

I went from a solid 8.8 (tubular C/A's, aftermarket springs/shocks/swaybar) to an IRS, (MM coilover kit) and haven't looked back. Driving this thing on the Autobahn, you can really feel the difference compared to a stick axle car.

Hockenheimring opens up this spring.....

To address the original point of the thread. Stick with stock unless you plan on suspension changes. If you're going to upgrade your springs in the future make sure that the shocks/struts are suitable to them. No sense in spending $ on shocks that will be overpowered by your spring choice.
