Don't know what a 58 series is. Does that mean the posts on top? That is what I have.
I was thinking of just stopping by Walmart and buying a cheap one, then taking it home and letting it charge while I go back to work for the afternoon. I am free after 4:30. Perhaps earlier.
I'm leaning towards the coil. We'll talk as to why later.

I owe Mark D. one beer.
Bad coil.
Was getting enough spark to light a test light. Not enough to light the timing light. Funny thing is that the coil tested out okay according to resistance specifications with both the primary and secondary.
All better now.

Mark S. - Nope. I'm good. Thanks for the offer.
Mark D. - Nope, troubleshooting was finished when I posted last. Yeah, I noticed that when I would have the power switch on and connect the lead, the light would flash for a second. Yet, even when the car tried to start, there was no flash of the timing light.
I had a couple of old (good) coils laying around. Hooked one up for a second and when I turned the car over for a second, it tried to catch and run. So I went up and bought a new one, installed it, and the car fired right up and ran great. That is how I know it is the coil.
In retrospect (hindsight is 20/20), that explains why the car was losing power and I could feel it cutting out most of the time and even dying for no reason. I was thinking it was needing a tuneup or I had an electrical wiring issue. All of my wiring still looks good..
Now to clean it up for tomorrow.
