Machine shop - heads
Okay, I am seriously thinking of having my E7 heads looked at again while I have them off. I want to verify I have good guides, valves, and springs.
I called Southern Cylinder Head. They quoted $100 a head (valve job) and able to do it in one day. Of course, extra work is extra money.
Anyone got a recommendation?

SCH did these heads 8 years ago. They did excellent work from the folks that were running it then.
I have heard rumors that their work fell way down some years ago, perhaps 5. So, I am wondering if their work is back up to snuff. If so, I still would pay $200 rather than going back to R&R for $150.

i dont think anyone will look at your heads and tell you you "dont need " a valve job .. it`s why they are in the buisness .. i check my stuff by pouring kerosene into the ports and fill them and then look for seapage ( spelling help kennyg ) .. and simply by seeing if the valves wiggle side to side as well as how much resistance the retainer has when i try to spin it by hand
I use them for heads at work, pressure testing, guides ect on heavy truck applications. They were running a drag car with a Ford 302 with cleveland heads out of thier last year. No issues, fair pricing and good turn around. My two cents.
