Yet, she doesn't take into account how much it cost her to save that 30 cents. Now if the station was on the way to something, I could almost see it. But, honestly, I see people complaining about a few pennies for a gallon of gas as they drink a $2 bottle of water.

I never understood why you would drive miles to save a few pennies. By the time you drove there you prob waste more gas then your saving. I'd never get rid of my car because of cost of gas maybe just cut back on the whole driving around for no reason. Or cut back on the trips to and from the beaches and stuff.

Or they can brag about saving 10 cents a gallon on a 20 gallon fillup ($2)--while drinking the $2 bottle of water they bought at the gas station. (They saved nothing! And paid for bottled tap water!)

This is why the rest of the world laughs at us when we complain.

Did you know that bottled water generally costs more per gallon than gasoline?

But for those that want to save, I actually have a small app on the right side of the Huntsville Car Scene homepage that pulls in the top 10 cheapest local gas prices each time the page is loaded. Check it out.

I live in Connecticut and it's supposed to be 5 dollars by summer which is bollocks because my Vic has a 19 gallon gas tank. It took 55 dollars to fill from a little above a quarter tank and even then it wasn't completely filled up...and that's with gas in the mid 3 dollar range.

I've been looking for a Focus to get and toss a few air flow what nots on it to get better mileage and park the Vic in the mean time. Sucks really bad especially when you're unemployed :'(

This brings up a valid point in my case. Here is what is in my driveway.

2007 Loaded Suburban
2008 Evo X (500HP = not easy on gas)
2010 Lancer (Much better on gas = stock)

I am right now in Afghanistan (sorry cant ship you oil) and my wife drives 58 miles one way to work. So you are looking at 120 miles a day.

I am getting a 2012 GT and am beating on her to let me get her a 2012 Prem V6.
Instead of trading in her Lancer (paid cash for it) I am pretty much forced to keep it for cases where 5.00 plus a gallon occurs.

I live in California so it WILL hit 5-6 bucks...
She filled the Suburban up yesterday (Only vehicle I take the little ones in) for 109.71

Thanks to our crappy government for screwing us over...

Oh and if you really want to have a reason to complain.. I have been in the desert a total of 6 years since 2002 and I have seen first hands tens of thousands of gallons of gummy crude being dumped on the ground to prevent "brown out" from when helicopters land. Now you know why its so expensive...

Red face My habits won't change, but what about how that looks?

Since this thread was started I have not bought any gas.
So, I don't really drive many regular work and shopping miles.
The crusin' miles I do should not change at all.
What is starting to worry me is that I will be one of the few cars on the road this summer and everyone will be driving slower.
It is easy to fly down the highway when everyone is already doing 75mph+.
You stick out like a cop attractor when you are doing 80 and everyone else is doing 62 to save gas.
I am already noticing people driving slower down the road.
One thing the average person doesn't seem to realize is that until they are doing 40+ in overdrive, going slower isn't saving any gas.
I am sure my jackrabbit starts (even in the V6) will be more noticeable now also.
