The problem with modified cars is that it is a very subjective class with no real standards to go on. As another example, let's use a couple of modified '65 Mustangs as an example. The first one has an Edelbrock intake and carb, very clean and definitely modified from original. The second has a complete set of chromed, 48-IDA Weber carbs and a polished Cobra manifold. More than likely, the second car would score better, even though both are modified in the same area. It just comes down to what the judge likes better, not which is closer to some accepted standard.
That is true. It all depends on what the judge likes.

I'd have to disagree here. For example, if "Mr. Big Bucks" went out and bought a concours restored 1965 Shelby GT-350, and "Mr. Not so Big Bucks" went out and bought a concours restored '65 A Code fastback and both entered the judging competition and both scored identically, say 98 out of 100 points, you're saying that because "Mr. Big Bucks" could afford a rarer car he should be given a couple of extra points which would put him ahead of the A Code fastback? That kind of sounds like elitism...

Every Mustang show I've been to had a separate class for Shelbys, so that's never been an issue. However, if I were the judge, the GT350 would win the class because of its heritage, power, exclusivity, and overall appearance. One suggestion I made for our show is to allow up to 3 points for judges' discretion. Judges could add points for exclusivity or overall appearance. For two equal cars, which one looks better?

So what you're saying is that we should start out with judging sheets with a "bonus points" section at the very top giving extra points for rarer cars. So a 428SCJ Mach 1 should get more points than a regular CJ Mach 1. And a 428SCJ '69 GT Coupe should get more points than a '69 SCJ Mach 1. And a 4 speed '70 Mach 1 should get more points than an automatic '70 Mach 1. And what would determine the amount of bonus points? Sounds like a pretty slippery slope to me...

No. I like classic Camaros more than I do classic Mustangs.
Especially that 67 my moms cousin has. Has the 327 with a 3 speed tranny. Omg! Barks tires in every gear.

It'd be interesting to have all cars judged by MCA or modified MCA rules as well as voted on by the public. You could have 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place, and Popular Choice for each class. That'd be cool.
