Shifter improved for 2008?

The article I read went on and on about how great the new shifter was, so I'm assuming there has been a positive change of some sort. But as Hollywood mentioned it may be an installation adjustment that tightened up the "feel". All that would take would be some bushings, shims, etc., or perhaps a new spring in the action.
I'm cool with that.
