thats is a little ambitious dont you think. i was thinking ford would buck up and put some new flowing heads on the 3 valve 4.6. the current ones suck. maybe a new cam? take out a little weight and have a bullitt with 340-350 hp at 3400lbs for 34k! that car would have been a home run i believe!

Meh, whatever. The only reason to buy this car will be the interior and the paint.

The last Bullitt didn't a CAI, it got a new intake manifold. That strikes me as a little more impressive, especially when you compare the Bullitt manifold to the stock '01 Mustang GT manifold. And the lack of upgraded brakes is just... apalling. Come on! Why not have GT500 brakes? The old Bullitt had the equivalent, and then some.

The car will sell, people will pay the stupid markup (though it won't be Shelby-level). Overall, this car will be alright to look at, nifty at best. I'll stick with my 2001 and my Cobra II, thanks.

The Challenger will be more $$$ than you realize, once dealers get done with their ADM BS, and the Camaro, its still over 18+ months away. And from early reports, the V8 isn't going to start anywhere near the price of the Mustang GT.

Who can argue with well thought out logic like that? Maybe if you hold your breath untill you turn blue or stamp your feet Ford will change their ways!

The original Bullitt was an appearance and slight performance upgrade package before and that's what its going to be in 2008. I don't see anything wrong with that. People expecting another '03 Cobra horsepower wise might have gotten a little carried away with their expectations dontcha think?

The moaning would then be based on the limited proposed production instead.
The '01 Bullitt must have been "worthy" to a lot of people if they sold out all of their production run, and Ford felt they there was enough demand to bring the Bullitt edition back on the new generation Mustang....

I find it hard to beleive that people who were paying a something like a 50% premium over a standard Mustang's price for a GT350 back in Sixties didn't know what they were buying.

Perhaps you're too clever to grasp the simple logic of the statement?

I dunno, why don't you ask them? Oh, that's right, you don't need to, they're all voicing their disappointment in this thread.

What a pitty. It might remind you of maternal affection.

What Ford feels is another Anniversary Edition taking a cue from Shelby Autos obsession with anniversaries.

I find it hard to beleive...
Given your logic and form of expression it should be very easy for you, as a matter of fact, it seems to flow quite natural.

Bon appetite.

C'mon Ford, don't do this to us. We treat you so great, and you respond to us with THIS? A 12hp increase?

If they really wanted to impress us, I say they do what Balchowsky did to the original.

Well at least they don't have to ship it to Las Vegas so that should cut down on the cost.
Despite all the disappointment, does anyone think they will have a hard time selling them?

Not at all - I think they will be very popular.

i think they'll be popular among those who are not members of any forums discussing this topic, lol

i'll be honest, i'm still slightly interested in getting one, just 'to have one'... but on the same token, maybe i was a sucker to the hype and i'm feeling like Sean Connery in League of Extraordinary Gentlemen - "I'm waiting to be impressed!"

I agree. They will be as sought after as the '01s were.

They'll sell just fine. I know this comes as a shock to everyone here, but a lot of people don't care that much about horsepower.
On that note, I'd have to side with the I'm not impressed crowd.

I've been bugging our Ford rep ever since the day fields made the announcement, knew about the car before he did. If it's affordable, i'm going to be trading in the V6. I just can't get enough of that dark highland green. I don't think there will be a hard time selling them. From what i understand each dealer will have a chance to get a few of them, so it should be spread out pretty good.

i asked my dealer a little about them when pitching myself to be a photographer for their Saleen marketing campaign. he asked me what i knew about the Bullitt and i spouted off just about everything i'd read on TMS and he just nodded his head and smiled, lol

There will be several factors to consider since it is a late '08 release. Directly related will be the price of the GT500s when the Bullitt hits the showrooms, available deals from the aftermarket segment, and other manufacturers' products. Indirectly will be the economy, interest rates, the national elections, and the over all state of the union.

At the beginning the demand will be there just like with any new Mustang product. If the out the door cost is near $40K, availability will not be a problem.
