Official Information Straight From Ford - Bullitt Details.
this just means it might be less desireable to some and more affordable to others. its no secret what an E4 with 4yrs makes, and i'm only halfway done paying off my Bullitt now. this new one just became more attainable, should i choose to go that route.

I think that's some sort of concept sketch that's been destroyed by being faxed tons of times.
I think the package could have used some other stuff, but i'm not 100% dissapointed. If it turns out to be an affordable package, i'm going to do the best i can to get it, hopefully it will be D-Plan eligiable. One can always add quarter window louvers, an aftermarket heat extractor hood, change the wheels, to achieve the best bullitt look.

Wonder if BON still thinks the 4v will be in it...
It'll still be nice and quick...Thanks to the 3.73s and tuning pack.
I had no doubt it would be a FRPP parts car though.
Ford is being conservative until the redesign.
No sense in using all your '**** moves' without anyone to compete with.

Hmmmm, so it's nothing but a Green Mustang with a Bullitt badge, how weak.
At least the 01 Bullitt's had a unique intake manifold and Cobra brakes.
Are they even trying? A FRP power pack?
Big let down..

Big question for me is, will this car be more affordable? Given the "nostalgia" angle and being a limited edition, probably (Borat timing -)NOT! Let the customer rear end sexy time at dealerships begin!!! "Magnet" not included.
U no wot Ford? AINOKEA!!!

I am utterly disappointed....wow what a let down, 312HP they are allowing the aftermarket dictate what gets done to thier cars...Saleen 400HP N/A Rousch a vette killer....the Legendary Bullit.....friggin 312HP....
Just what I was expecting.
Ford continues to bring out scoop-and-vinyl packages, while letting Shelby to take care of the performance SEs.
I spot a trend already:
2005: Ford Mustang V6> vs. Shelby GT500
2006: Ford V6 Pony Package vs. Shelby GT-H
2007: Ford GT/CS vs. Shelby GT
2008: Ford Mustang Bullitt vs. Shelby GT500KR
.
.
My bet on the next models:
2009: Ford Mustang Mach1 (Saleen's PJ is already a great Boss tribute, Ford will have to take a step back) vs. Shelby GT350
Thank God for Roush, Saleen and Steeda!
Nice going Ford, I'm not buying another Mustang until I see the next generation. The way things are going, I might end up buying a V6 Challenger purely for its looks and supercharge the Mustang for the track days.

A subtly styled Mustang GT with some FRPP parts with a warranty makes sense for the market at this time. It would have been nice to have more engine, but the time and expense, I assume, could not be justified.
I wish Ford could have figured out a way to amortize development of an engine like the 302 in the Saleen/PJ.
As a slight aside, there is a great article in 5.0 that describes how they made it.

Yes - the development dollars were spent on increasing the stroke, porting the heads, honing the cylinders, engine calibration (including the calibration on the variable cams), and adapting the shaker intake system. For durability, they replaced the crank, connecting rods, and pistons.
The article actually mentions that the basic architecture was quite good from Ford in a number of key areas.
I suspect we would have seen an engine like this is there was a way to amortize this over a larger number of units and the fuel economy numbers for Ford would have been in line with what was needed for their fleet average.

I guess part of the gripes and moans of having the Bullitt with the GT's 4.6 and a CAI is having a special edition without a unique and upgraded engine for it.
Ford should have taken the Mustang fans' reactions to the GT/CS and how it's viewed as a SE.

Gas mileage diff?
With 3.73 gearing, how much difference would gas mileage change?
I know on the ShelbyGT's it dropped to 16/23 or 24, or something, but they don't have 3.73s, correct?
If I were to consider a Bullitt, it would be my daily driver, and w/gas prices as they are, any mileage hits become a factor (my commute is 54miles daily).

Let me say, I love my '06 GT. That being said, Ford is the is the king of doing things half-***. At least I can quit dreaming about the possiblities of the Bullitt now. This car will end up being around $34000 or more before dealer mark-up, so they can keep that crap. I'm really not a Chevy or Dodge fan, but that Challenger and Camaro are looking better and better every day, especially if they are packing 400 horses.
On a side note, has anyone seen the Ford Mustang tv commercials that have a line something to the effect of:
"Since Mustang has no competition, we have to make our own competition."
That line says it all. Ford has no incentive to do anything performance wise at this point. That's why we keep getting cosmetic packages with little or no real performance upgrades.
Does anyone get the feeling we will see a Mach I or Boss with maybe 317hp next? Well if we are lucky. lol
