Official Bullitt Release & Pix!

So, the only difference between the dealer I work for and the others is how we feed our greed. The others stick you for as much profit on the first go 'round as they may never see you again or any referrals. We get just as much profit out of each customer, it just takes us longer to do it (via multiple purchases, service work, parts dept, body shop, etc.).
Not sure which way is better, but I sleep better at night the way we do it, and I see more and more dealers changing their ways all the time around here (so the competition is catching up to us). I hope the same is happening everywhere else, too.

Oh, we're greedy where I work. We are so greedy and want to sell each customer multiple cars and get them to refer their friends and family to buy from us so we can make more and more money forever and ever. And because we are so greedy and want that long-term business, we make sure that we treat every customer as well as we can, charge fair prices for all services we offer, and thank them repeatedly. Yep, being greedy makes us do lots of nice things like that.

05fordgt, like you, I have customers who have become friends. Makes sense considering they have the same hobby (Mustang) that I have, and if they're local it's easy to hang with them often.
One of my customers who I count as a very good friend (we entertain back and forth at each others homes with our wives and kids), even bought my 2003 Mach 1 when I bought my 07 GT, so I see him often and even get to drive my old Mach 1 whenever I have the itch to do so.
I never treat customers like just another "deal." I am a people person just as much as a business person, so I like to chit chat and build rapport. This is reflected in my college degree: I have a Bachelor's Degree in Business from the UW. I majored in finance, but minored in human resource mgmt, so I'm a numbers and people kind of guy.
I ordered two more Bullitts last night, but they are for dealer stock. Hopefully Ford will let us have them even though there isn't a customer name on the order. One is fairly loaded with an MSRP over $34K (HID's, Nav, etc.) while the other is more basci with an MSRP under $32K. Both in Dark Highland Green, of course!

I guess when car magazine editors are reviewing cars, they need to remember what price point and audience a car is aimed at when they make comments about them. The handling of a GT500 is exceptional for a 4 seat $50K coupe. But, when a journalist hears about that 500hp, they may start mentally comparing other 500hp cars (that are lightweight 2 seaters with 6 figure price tags) and come away feeling the GT500 isn't as good. Well, gosh, it won't be as it is a completely different animal with the only commonality being the 500hp mark. How many other 500hp 4 seaters are available brand new for under $50K? And how do they handle? Any of them posting 1.0g skidpad #'s? Oh wait, there aren't any.

Many seemingly 'domestic' car magazines read like 'Euro-car Review' rather than 'Domestic Car Review' these days.

Example, our mortgage company filed foreclosure upon my wife and I last month because they had mistakenly deposited our payments into the wrong account for 6 MONTHS!!!!
They never contacted us or anything, I found out at work because our office takes in the liens and such for the county I live in.
We came to an agreement with them after this snafu fortunatley. On top of contacting ALL of the other creditors we have to make sure our interest rates don't go up and fixing all of the errors with the credit score companies, they are giving us 1 YEAR of 0% interest, and deservedly so!
Sorry.... I'm done hijacking this thread.

However, with the mods I've already done on my GT..From a performance, and practicle standpoint ! The Bullitt just doesn't offer anything worthwhile, that would justify parting with my current GT.
On the other hand, if it were the upcoming Boss/Mach 1..It would then be definitely worthwhile..Depending on the price, of course lol.

Don't get me wrong..If I didn't have my current 05 GT, and was in the market for one..Then yes, I'd be interested in the 08 Bullitt..

I like what tehy've done with this Bullittt, so I've ordered one, however my first alternate would be a palin Black GT and go from there.
There is certainly nothing wrong with your '05!

I'm in the same boat you are, brother. If I didn't already have my 07 GT and a couple grand in mods already done, the Bullitt might just appeal to me. My GT won't stand a chance against a Bullitt in the twisties, but I focused my mods on the dragstrip where I would likely edge out a Bullitt to the 1/4 mile stripe by a few car lengths.

This is why I'm holding out, for either the upcoming Boss/Mach 1, the re-designed 2010 GT, or the all new 2012 Mustang Huntsman platform..

I can relate to this above. I'm holding out for the Mach I also. What I've said in the past though still goes; if Ford don't offer the options and/or otherwise build the car the way I want then I aint buying one of those neither!

The 2001 Bullitt came out, almost traded the GT for one, but just couldn't justify trading in a 1-year-old GT for the modest gains in performance.
Started sending emails to Ford's Mustang chief engineer saying how cool the SVT Cobra was for 99 and 01, but that while I really wanted a 32V V8, I would be drag racing and needed a solid axle (not the IRS). Begged him to consider a 32V in a GT for us straight-line racers! They must have had a lot of people grumbling about this, as I got my wish in the form of the 2003 Mach 1. My first car ever was a blue Mach 1 25 years ago, so I bought my 2003 Mach 1 in blue, as well.
So then the 05 Mustang GT's came out and everyone would ask when I'd get one. I kept telling them not until they build one that performs better than my Mach 1. I wanted the GT500, but that's really out of my reach financially, plus demand was making them impossible to find readily (we were perpetually sold out and customers come first). Serious mods for the Mach 1 were far and few in between (as it was so well engineered and maximized from the factory), and what was available was very pricey. Just a cam swap is about $3500 parts/labor!
I finally realized that the aftermarket is really strong for the 05-08 GT's, with reasonable prices for 3V stuff, plus plenty of S197 GT's were running 12's with simple bolt-on's while the best I was getting out of my Mach 1 was 13.0's, so I made the trade.
Having owned a sedate looking 89 5.0L LX, and having the itch for an 01 Bullitt left me wanting a total sleeper to fly under the radar, so I ordered my 07 GT with sleeper in mind: dark color, no wing, no chrome, no GT badging, etc. Very Bullitt-like in many ways, but not green (not sure I could warm up to green, so I would have only considered a black Bullitt).
Now, for my next Mustang, I'll have to pass on any SE's until I find one with a 32V V8 and automatic transmission (my knees aren't what they used to be and I drag race where consisitency is uber-important). 350-400hp should by the target, if naturally aspirated. Wrap it up in a cool package that's drag-friendly (i.e. Mach 1, not the road-race inspired Boss), and I might just make the trade.
We'll see............

Once again.. I'm with both of you, as I won't make a switch to neither a Boss, or Mach 1 unless..There's at least 32V DOHC 4.6 OR 24V SOHC 5.4 that's included..
Otherwise, I'll either hold out for the re-designed 2010 GT..Or wait for the all new 2012 Huntsman platform..

Mike ! although nobody can confirm for certain, as to whether or not Huntsman will be the actual name for the all new global platformHowever we do know, that the all new 2012 Mustang..will indeed be built upon the upcoming RWD global platform..Which is more than suitable enough for me, at this point
