custom Headers ?????

I think I ask this once before?
Do I want shorty headers or longtube?
I want more sound without messing up my stock exhaust. And more Hp would be a plus.
Someday, when I get more money I would like to get a set of CNC heads and a nice set of cams.
I've been thinking of custom fitting my headers to my Bullitt HPipe, that would mean removing my cats.
Or do I want to go with shorty's and leave everything alone?
What do you guys think?

If you go with long tubes it will definitely alter the sound even with cats. I don't think much of the stock Bullitt exhaust would be heard with long tubes. I have the Kooks LT's with x-pipe with high flow cats and Borla Stingers. I had the mufflers on for a few months before I got the headers, and it was a huge difference in volume, tone, characteristics and everything once I put the headers on after the mufflers. If you go longtubes though it may sound more like the original '68 than the '08.

Well instead of moving this to the GT Performance mods sections and having the bullitt-heads all up in arms, I guess I would just suggest you take a look in that section. Once you add headers the sound, from what I have read, will not be the same and then in most cases you end up not happy with the mufflers and will be swapping them out.

Its all about keeping the Bullitt sound and the special HPipe on my Bullitt.
That is why I didn't go to the GT Performance section
The gt and the Bullitt have two different exhausts.

If you must have headers and keep the Bullitt exhaust go with short headers.

So why change the headers then?

The gt and the Bullitt have two different exhausts.
Other than the mufflers, I didn't realize there was any difference in the rest of the components.

So I just read up on the exhaust system of the Bullitt so I would have a better understanding of what was different. So if you want to keep the same sound, I guess I still don't understand why you would change the headers. Wouldn't that change the sound a bit? I could be wrong cause honestly I don't know.

On my 08 Mustang GT I went from factory HPipe to a SLP XPipe and the car got too raspy for me. I liked the low tone the factory HPipe gave me. What I didn't like was the Drone. After I changed the exhaust, I had no drone! I just missed the low tone.
Now with the Bullitt there is no DRONE, I just wish it was louder

I think the FRPP shorty headers, IMHO, is probably the safest thing for you and it would yield hp (5?) and maybe make it a little louder and deeper. Actualy your just replacing the stock exhaust manifold and nothing from there back would change. They would also be completely emmissions legal I would think because nothing changes with the O2 sensors. Plus you'd be keeping it all Ford.

The entire system is different from engine back.

I'm not sure why change the header either.

Yes and if need be it would be simple to go back to the stock setup
