A 5.4L would have just made it "the rich guy's model"... The car was not meant to be a big hp model, just like the 390 of the past. I think they did a great job with the car. I'd rather buy th 4.6L and slowly spend money to bump up the hp... that is a little more cost friendly that buying a massive motor at the start.

It's finally clear to me... I can now see the light!
I had never known the 4.6 had been exclusively reserved for the varmint critters.

I wasn't calling it that. The price increase of the car that would have happened if the 5.4L would have been introduced would have made it much harder to afford one. Thanks for plucking the one sentence of my post, haha.

Yeah, I hear you. Add the extra 20 cents per gallon for the premium gas and we would have a bunch of guys pondering Chapter 11.

Haha, so many things I could say, but I'm staying quiet. Anyways, for the price, the package is good. I'm going after one.

I just don't see that. The cost is not substantially more.

To step from a 4.6 to a 5.4 in the 2008 F-150 is a $743.00 invoice/$895.00 MSRP option. It would cost the same in the Mustang. On a $30,000 car, $800 isn't going to brake the bank.

BTW to step from the 5.4 to the 6.8 V-10 in a 2008 F-250 is only a $498.00 invoice/$600.00 MSRP option...
