First off, my praise:
  • Wheels
  • Strut tower brace
  • 3.73 gears
  • Satin A/C and gauge vents
  • Shift ball
  • Adaptive Spark Ignition System
My complaints:
  • Should've used the GT500 front fascia
  • Should've used either the GT500 hood or a dual vent hood like the 3dCarbon Boy Racer
  • Should have developed different mirrors and side skirts for the GT500 and carried them over to the Bullitt and Shelby GT
  • Should've used Shelby GT rear fascia
  • Should've used GT500 seats with '01 stitching
  • I would prefer the original satin dash trim, but the turned aluminum isn't bad and the satin vents look great on the Bullitt
I wish they had used quarter window louvers, but I imagine visibility was a concern, and there are so many options in the aftermarket that they couldn't have chosen one that everyone would've liked.

This SE follows the Ford Plan right now low cost high profit. the downgrade a GT add off the shelf parts and ask $31k. This car has to have the highest profit margin of any SE Mustang. I would have liked to have seen round parking lamps in a new bumper cover. Why does everyone want C Scoops? Original no scoops , 01 they removed the ugly scoops and put in flat piece to mimic the 68. Scoops that are for looks should be left off. If the scoop is non functional I don't want it!

Now if it had those things added to it *that* would have gotten my attention alot more. Something about the grille still bugs me though and I don't know if it's the blocked off part or maybe it's just the shape of the hexagonal elements inside of it. Aside from the grille, the addition of the hood, vertical stiched seats and side louvers would have made a big difference.

Would have gotten my vote of Bullseye if they put the old Terminator motor in it. 390hp as a tribute to the originals 390ci motor.

The grille just looks too much like the V6 (no offense to V6 owners intended); that is to say, plain jane. Again, understated is good, but there's a difference between understated and boring, lazy design. Even the addition of the GT/CS lower fascia would have helped the existing look. And the lack of a twin vented hood is inexcusable, a complete deal breaker for me at least.

With few exceptions, everything here is pretty much straight out of the Ford parts bin, and easily accomplished. Margins should be good on this car.

Well, I think they did a passable job on the Bullitt considering it was a non-car in the first place. Welded up from several junkers…in the true tradition of hollywood.

The biggest disappointment is the grill, what’s with that anyway? Shades of black glass…third tail lights, and TPMS? Followed by that awful dash treatment...shudder.

The Ford guys should have stayed with the theme and gone with a matte black rendition of the 68 installation. Or as a minimum do the stitched version, as available on the GT. The grill, IMHO, is a total loss, maybe the guys at Street Scene should do a proper one. I know a lot of folks have been looking for same for their GTs and V6s.

I give it a 3.8 out of 5. Best I can give them... Close but no cigar.

So now we pass the ball to the dealers, and see how bad they can ADM it to death.

The 68's were new from Ford for the movie. They beat up new cars to make them look used.

i love the color and the shifter ball on this car looks great other than that I was hoping for a bit more horsepower, I think like 350 would have been a perfect number....to me it just looks like a stripped stang needs a little something to make it stand out i give it a 3 out of 10

Eh, a poll on this site tells me little about whether Ford missed their mark, too many biases.

Yeah, Ford should ask Honda nad Toyota owners what they think, then finally we could get an *unbiased* opinion.

Your post = smoking crack!

Surely you don't think the only people interested in the Bullitt will be Mustang enthusiats, right?

Do me a favor, since you so readily insulted me. Look up what a statistical bias (i.e. a biased sample in this example) is and how that concept might apply to this situation. Maybe then you will understand what I am talking about....

this bullitt not for me. nice, but ADM's and features (or lack thereof, depending on who you ask) don't make it a "want to buy" - wish i could have grabbed a '01 true blue (rarest color - but don't tell the purists! lol) that was for sale out here...

Exactly, the Mustang doesn't get much home cooking on this site. Run a poll asking the folks on this site if the GT500 hit the mark and my guess is that about half would gush over it and a bit less than that would systematically list the same old issues, most of them blown waaay out of proportion by this point, and would be doing this to demonstrate just how terribly Ford 'missed the mark'.

It is then ironic that well over a year after the cars debut you still cannot buy one for sticker. Guess it all depends on what you mean by 'missing the mark'.

This ain't no V6 secretary's car. The fact is that the vast majority of people who purchase performance Mustangs are Mustang enthusiasts. I don't think the average Joe on the street will be cross-shopping Bullitts without some previous knowledge/interest/enthusiasm in the car to begin with.

I'd say the poll on this site represents a pretty accurate snapshot of most potential Bullitt buyers. The "statistical bias" you allude to by way of this example is therefore tantamount to the target demographic for this car.

Almost three times as many people dislike it than like it. That tells me Ford missed the mark.
As long as you save the original hood, and keep it in a safe place covered up, there's nothing to worry about. It only take a few minutes to bolt on a different hood.

Why are the back windows on each side just a window? Are they not going to have that grill type cover like the original? I saw the MSNBC test drive this am on TV & it had it on, but all the pics I see here are clear windows.... I cannot believe they won't have them! Anyone know???

Like it for what it is...and the cost...

It'll perform well and above what the GT is out of the box, just like the old 2001 did to the GTs of that year.

I know people wanted more... so mod it
or wait till the BOSS like in 2003 for the Mach1
History is repeating itself....only now the whiny people have found what the internet is all about.

And Hogan, no need to spam the same question in multiple threads...
Answer..no louvers on rear quarter windows.

Thanks, I didn't spam - I put it in two total, one I thought maybe it would get lost since it had pages in the double digits so that's why I put it in here.

Why then, did the car on MSNBC have the 'louvers' but not on the production car?

People will see the question....don't worry

as for the louvers, no idea.
But as stated in another thread, that is a visual blindspot.
