I see "no cigar" as "OK, but no thanks."

I voted "close but no cigar" meaning it's not a home run, it's an improvement over the GT/CS, and I will not buy it.

Judging from what Ford did with the '01 the '08 has a similar if not identical ratio on the present high performance standards, meaning, it is far behind the top dog and it's a matter of time before it falls to third place in the Mustang line up just like the '01 fell behind the '01 Cobra, Mach 1, and Terminator.

Ford promised a SE for each MY and as the present gen winds down it should go out with a bang as the previous one did with the '03 - '04 Cobra. Next in line, the BOSS which if it matches or surpases its predecessors, the BOSS 302 and/or BOSS 429, it should be a dandy. Perhaps a n/a 5.4 is reserved for it and might be the reason why it was not considered for the '08 BULLITT.

Hollywood-

SInce there are 3 possible choices and you view 2 of them as negatives- then the results are stacked in favour of the negative.
So it's really not a fair poll.

Looking at it a different way- If I combine the yes votes with the "close" votes we get (at this present time) 77.27% in favour of the car.
If we look at it your way, and take the no votes and combine with the "close" votes we get 63.64%. A 13.63% lead for the yes side.

There IS only one way to look at it, the way it was written. The poll says what it says: "...NO Cigar." Not "half a cigar," or "a partial cigar with the following provisions," or conversely, "close enough that I will perhaps consider buying one" - in point of fact, what it says is, "Close but no cigar." The word "no" doesn't mean "yes" with caveats, it means NO. "No" is defined as >> not any; used in notices or slogans forbidding or rejecting something specified. As in "rejected," as in dismiss as inadequate, inappropriate, or not to one's taste.

Do I really need to go on...?

Anyone who buys a car and is not completely satisfied will risk selling it and losing a ton. It's just a matter of time. Quite a few jumped the BULLITT ship as soon as the Mach 1 and Cobra came out. A few more after the '05 GT became available took the jump as well.

Does this translate to Well,my local Ford dealer already ordered 5 (Bullitts) for some people (who have already) put down (a deposit) for a Bullitt?

Also, was this in NC, OH, WV, or where (your loc doesn't narrow it down much)?

I just got priced out (matched the PM I got yesterday, thanks!) with just MSRP and x-plan. It's looking great! I was told that this dealership will be ordering around 3 or 4 for their inventory. That may include my one special order, though. I just have to go in and put down the deposit.

They are not doing markups on these, they just want to sell them. He said that they really only markup the Shelbys. He said if the x-plan is okayed by Ford, we'll do it that way. If not, it's MSRP or less.

Well let's say the "close" folks are neutral- perhaps they are lovers of Dodge(?)

The yes votes have a fairly healthy lead vs. the no votes. And I suspect that gap will widen- I think more people are warming to the car. But regardless- it's going to bring a smile to my face everytime I turn the key!
Presenting I have an 05GT, which almost 3 years later still makes me smile.
I'm very excited awaiting my Bullitt and know that it will provide joy well beyond my GT!

Poor Bullitt

Nothing much to expect from the Bullit. Heck an ordinary GT with simple bolt ons can smoke em. Not even sure it deserves any credit at all since all it has is its color. ...... PERIOD end of Bullit story.

TO ME: Very poor execution by Ford.

A CS bumper and GT500 rear should have been at least present.

Hollywood- It's your negative thinking that makes you think the naysayers are leading.
The actual tally is-
naysayers- 37
Supporters- 121

Certainly looks like Ford got it right!

You're an example of those people that don't understand what this car is about. It's not suppose to be the baddest car on the street and have the most power.
It's designed to be a tribute to the movie car.
It's designed to be an upgrade car that is also a daily driver.
The car has succeeded on all levels.

I've shown pics and vids to family, friends and co-workers- ALL of them just stare at the car and talk about how good it looks!

Do you feel misunderstood, victimised, inferior, and oppressed?

Would you prefer a site where childlike posts are cherished, premature ejaculation is greeted with a standing ovation, and fantasy IS reality?

Does it sound good?

Boy! Do I have the PLACE for YOU!

George-

I don't get guys like you and Hollywood GT. You hate the car but yet keep making posts in the Bullitt forum on this site. What the hell for?
You've stated your opinion about the car.
What more is there for you to say?
But day after day you guys will be on here slamming the car- it's all pretty pointless. The car IS what it is, Ford is not going to change it.
Why don't you guys go to a forum that features a car that you like?
Wouldn't that make more sense?
Wouldn't that be a bit better use of your time?

Whammer: I had the '68, the '01, predicted a new version BULLITT as soon as the 05 Mustang concept was released, patiently waited for the '08 BULLITT, and have been a TMS paying member since 2004.

I don't need your approval, I don't trash TMS, or degrade its members, and guess what, TMS is where the most valuable BULLITT information has been, is, and where you have been informed and educated thanks to the membership. You are in no position to give me any advice.

What part of "Close but NO cigar" don't you get?

Time to go back to school for some basic reading comprehension and a course in "perception of reality", I guess.

Whammer, bammer...thank you, mammer!
