Actually its gone too fast! I still have 2 feet of snow and it won't be gone until April at best. (I didn't think the process would be so quick when I ordered 12.6.)

I guess they figured they'd knock Oregon out at once! LOL
I was wondering how yours was coming along. Glad to hear you're getting close!

Got back from the dealer. They were very helpful. It must have been a slow day because 3 sales guys, the sales manager and owner all got interested in what I was asking about. I asked what was going on with my bullitt order. What was taking so long and why the run around. My sales guy said again that Ford wasn't delivering Bullitts yet. I showed him print-outs I had gotten from Autotrader showing 5 bullitts within 200 miles on the lot right now. Then he said, "That may be but they aren't delivering them around here."
He said he called the regional manager and said that week 6 is when his dealership gets ordered vehicles scheduled. He explained that in order to keep the shipping of vehicles organized, each area has its week when cars are processed. There were 4 other dealers on the list for week 6 that he showed me.

I had called another dealer in this area before I came in today and he said a similar thing, they wouldn't be getting any bullitts for a few weeks. Whether it's true or not I don't know but it sounds reasonable.

He brought up the bit about the bullitt factory again and I told him (and the others who were listening) that Shelby GTs may get sent out to have the upgrades put on, but the bullitts, to my knowledge, do not. He said, "well, it's basically the same car as a Shelby without the appearance package." Ah well, whatever.

I voiced my concerns about the lack of VIN and they were helpful in getting me copies of the order form and concept status (unscheduled/clean still). I asked that If my vehicle doesn't get scheduled by Feb 7th could I get my deposit back and go get one off a lot somewhere else. They said yes and even put it in writing (they didn't put the date in there but wrote that if I canceled the order for any reason before the car shows up I can get my deposit back).

I got a lot of jokes from the sales guys about them taking it out when it gets there and doing ¼ mile runs, burnouts, etc...

I plan to give it a few weeks. Still cold and snowy here so I'm in no great hurry for the car. Just would be nice to have a VIN and be able to track it along its path. Some folks had suggested that when my car gets built I should make a trip to Flatrock to watch it go down the line. Don't know if that's possible or not, but sounds interesting.

I still think you should look for some dealers that are reasonable close to you and try and if they have them on the lot- go get it!
I can believe what they are saying about shipping to a region- but that doesn't stop you from getting a vin.

Whammer is right, check out every dealer in your area.
I too ordered one and was tired of waiting on a vin#, was afraid that I may get lost in the shuffle so became pro-active and found one that just arrived at a dealer, traded in my 06 GT and paid cash for the rest and we were done in 1hour. Putting a deposit on a car is no guarntee, like airlines that overbook tickets, doesnt mean your butt gets a seat~!

Anyone else waiting for a VIN?

Ordered my Bullitt 12/11/07. No VIN. I was told by the dealer that a VIN will be available when my order is placed for production. Is this correct?

Received my VIN today. Ordered 12/11/07. Ford Customer Relationship Center (800-392-3673) told me that once you receive a VIN the car is made and is going through inspection; scheduled to leave the plant 02/11/08 and arrive at the dealership on 02/18/08. Thus far, the dealership has been very cooperative.

That's not quite right. I recieved my VIN long before my car was built.
Car is now 'on the way'

So my dealer calls yesterday saying I finally have a vin (odered mid Nov), so i tell him about this forum and how guys are getting their cars already...he says "that cant be" "there is a hold on parts, no Bullitts have been built yet!" I say...but I have pics of the cars and happy owners.
He is the internet sales manager at a busy Puget Sound area dealer, 4th car I have bought from him and he is a straight up guy and friend...where did he get his info? is Ford regional pulling some managers chain?
You would think being the internet sales guy he would check in on E-bay once in awhile...ya think?

My salesguy is thinking the same thing. He was promised an 01 priority for my car, yet, I just got a VIN and it wont be built till mid February. I think the regions are just putting crap out there to keep the dealers happy.

The Regions are certainly part of the problem.

I think it has alot to do with the regional reps. It is very tough to get a Bullit here in the northeast for some reason. The #1 Ford dealer in all of NY state still hasnt been able to get one.
I kept doing a recon on every dealer within 100 miles until I found one #0352 the cancelled the one I ordered. I started to worry because I believe some guys who ordered may never see the car.
Did any of you people ever make airline res, go to the airport only to find that they over booked and you dont have a seat?

I think there have been at least four Bullitts delivered to Puget Sound area dealers. My wife and I went and looked at one back on Jan 5th.

Ordered Dec. 10th and no VIN yet. I call every week to get an update. I have been "assured" it will be built though.

They did tell me late Feb to early March (delivery) when I placed the order though.

8 of those are at different dealers than the last time I checked so it's at least 12.

You'd think the Dealers would be on 'em. Just placing an order doesn't make the dealer any money - only when the car is delivered and paid for. And I don't think many dealers are doing so great right now that they can just drag out a sale by several months. If my commission were on the line I'd be screamin!
