I honestly have no way to know if your car will be delayed. If it is already serialized then parts should be available to complete its production on time. Your dealership can check its most current status in Ford's "CONCEPS" program to see if the schedule production date has been affected.

Perhaps this is why people have not been getting their VIN's?
This "delay" rumor was mentioned just before Xmas as well.

Lynda- I would assume folks like you and I are okay. My blend date was 12/14. Once the cars get to that stage it would seem all the parts are there to build it.

It's not why people haven't been getting VINs, otherwise there would also be no cars at dealerships.

Our retail orders should ahve been filled first instead of dealer stock orders. Once again, thank you Ford, your internal communication disconnect has messed up real paying end customers who took teh time to place orders from the start.

My contact couldn't say which piece/parts/supplier is to blame, but he won't be getting the Bullitt he ordered for himself anytime soon, just like many of you here.

On a positive note, our first Bullitt arrived yesterday (highland green with minimal options and sold at MSRP as promised). The customer we ordered it for picked it up last night. Now if we could just get our other Bullitt orders scheduled!
yes, another of Ford's huge mistakes. (going back to Nasser again) Ford used to be their own largest supplier, and since they stopped being that they've been plagued with part supply problems.
Ford's policy going back at least as far as the model T was to have three suppliers for almost every part, and one of those suppliers was always Ford itself.
It's never a great idea when a company changes from it's proven business model.

Unless the proven business model is displaced by changing business climates. Established US businesses got overrun in the 70s, 80's and 90's by freshly minted theoretical MBAs and beancounters. Beancounters don't understand sales or the concept of spending money to make money and MBAs are worth less than exhaust without real world experience....

And did you just outbid me on that Bullitt fogless grill on eBay?

Here is an update for those who might be interested.
My sales guy finally calls me back yesterday (he was out on vacation for two weeks, then had a death in the family and was out for another week after that). I had called 3 times and each time I was told he wasn't in and will call back when he gets back.

This is how it went:

Me: "Any news on my bullitt?"
Sales Guy: "Nope, haven't heard anything."

Me: "Not even a VIN?"
Sales Guy: "Not that I've seen"

Me: "Can you take a look on your concepts deal and check for me?"
Sales Guy: "Yeah, I guess so, let me call you back."
Me: "Ok"

20 min later I get a call back:

Sales Guy: "No VIN but it is scheduled to be built the week of Feb 7th" (I thought VIN was first scheduling next?) "But after that it goes to the bullitt factory to have all the bullitt stuff put on, who knows how long that will take, could be a while." (I've never heard of a bullitt factory before, news to me).

Me: "uhh... ok, by the way, what is the priority code on the order?"
Sales Guy: "Priority 1, its a sold vehicle" (I thought 10 was the highest order priority?).

Me: "Any idea what's taking so long, we ordered this thing mid Nov, right?"
Sales Guy: "Yup, but nobody is getting their bullitts, Ford hasn't delivered any yet" (WTH?)

Me: "No, that can't be so, I know of at least 2 less than 200 miles away that are on the lot right now. I think that they have delivered over 2000, that's the highest number I've heard of in someone's hands anyway."
Sales Guy: "What? Really? That's what my sales manager said. I just do what I'm told. I wonder why Ford is doing this?" (me too!)

Me: "Will you be around tonight after work? I'd like to stop by and get a copy of the order form"
Sales Guy: "I'm leaving at 5:00 so I won't be here. You mean the purchase agreement?"

Me: "No, actual order form"
Sales Guy: "I don't think we can show you that"

Me: "Really? When is a good time to come by then?"
Sales Guy: "I'm out tomorrow (Friday) but Saturday I should be in."
Me: "I'll see you then."

True story. I hope to get some answers on Saturday.

Haha... well, the sales guy definitely doesn't seem to care if you get it or not... wth is a "bullitt" factory?

Go find one somewhere else before they screw you over hard!

I 2nd what Korey said- go somewhere else! These guys don't seem to give a ****. This car means something very different to them than what it does to you.
I would definately take my business elsewhere.

Moonshiner, have you used the 3m film product before? Considering normal wear and tear, does it need to be replaced periodically? My Bullitt will be sitting outside (no garage). Do you think there would be noticeable fading between the film and normal paint areas? I've already checked out the link you provided, but want some feedback from someone who's used it as well. Thanks.

Thank you, Whammer! See... we know what we're talking about. Call them again and when he starts speaking of the Bullitt gods and the mystical factory, tell him to tear up your order, and... that you're going somewhere else.

Haha, I've heard I've heard of the mysterious gnomes of "bullittland." Much like ***** Wonka's setup, they work in the "Bullitt factories" all day and in return, Ford clothes and feeds them. Nice setup.

Also, 10 is the highest priority your dealer can assign the order. A regional mgr. can assign 01-09. I complained enough and my salesguy complained enough, we apparently got my order changed to 01, but it isn't confirmed just yet.

You sure they didn't order you a Shelby GT instead of a Bullitt?

OK, clearly this salesman has no clue what he's talking about and you need to go somewhere else. However, do it nicely, the man just had a death in his family and who knows who that family member was. At the end of the day we are all humans. No need to kick him hard if he's already down. JMHO.

this is true, but the problem there goes farther up the ladder than just that salesman

Lynda- that's very kind of you- only a woman would think this way. Most of us men are really incapable of such kind thoughts at a time like this!

I don't think it is the sales guy who is at fault - completely. I feel he is just getting fed this info from his sales manager.

I bought my last car from the same dealer and had a great experience, that's why I came back. However, the sales manager is new, started in Nov of 2007, about a week before I came in asking about the bullitt. I don't think he knows the ins-n-outs just yet.<O

I hope tomorrow's visit will reveal what is going on over there. If they go to work and find out what the hold up is or stand up with me and voice my concern to their superiors, that’s all I can ask. If they blow me off as if I'm a dumb customer, I will attempt to get my deposit back and move on.

I ordered my bullitt on 12/12/07 no vin#, so on thursday I found out that another dealer just got one in that day. I went to see it and bought it. picked it up yesterday.
#352 highland green, loaded. cancelled the one I ordered.
From what Im told, there are only two 08 bullitts in Long Island NY right now and since the other one is still on a dealers lot Im the first bullitt owner on Long Island.
have only put 12 miles on it so far, so going out to play today.

Congrats! Hope the roads are clear and dry for you. You did the right thing- found one available, bought it and cancelled your order.
If I was still waiting for a vin I would be checking all the dealer lots looking for one too.

The delays confuse me... mine went like clockwork from a small dealer in southern Oregon and now its on a train somehwere.
Actually its gone too fast! I still have 2 feet of snow and it won't be gone until April at best. (I didn't think the process would be so quick when I ordered 12.6.)
