Viva La Mustang! Giugiaros Interpret Ford Icon
I think stealing some of Challenger and Camaro's thunder may be exactly the point, and hiring Giugiaro to help design the next Mustang is an excellent idea.
Supposedly this car is coming to the LA Auto Show! I am sure Bill will beat me to the post of the pics since I have to drive back to SD before uploading them but if it is there we will cover it for you guys right here on TMS first!!!!!!

Thanks to Dutch car mag, Autovisie, we've got tentative proof the top-secret Giugiaro Mustang -- a concept car reported to be a joint project of Ford design boss J Mays and ItalDesign's Fabrizio Giugiaro -- exists in sheetmetal form. Set for a debut at the Los Angeles auto show later this month, the Italianized 'Stang will, according to Wards's Auto have the most powerful Mustang engine developed to date. It's not the first time an Italian had his way with a Mustang; at the 1965 New York Auto Show, Nuccio Bertone's showed off his company's 100th design -- a prototype Ford Mustang commissioned by Automobile Quarterly and designed by then Bertone sidekick, Giorgetto Giugiaro. – Mike Spinelli "

Lets not forget the consumer research event in Houston that had a redesigned Mustang earlier this year for those that say its too soon to see anything of the next model. Have to say the side profile looks slightly similar to that of the one in Houston-maybe im wrong but in this pic the car seems longer than the current mustang and I think the redesign is to be the same if not slightly shorter.
The gas thing seriously gets me annoyed/mad. I'm a total Ford guy and plan to buy an 68 Cougar/or/Stang next year. However, if the gas thing isn't fixed by then... I'm actually thinking about trading in my 06 GT for a Challenger. I'm sure it won't take me f@#*ing 15 minutes to fill up. That's just horrible, seriously. But I'd rather Ford fix the problem then switch sides.
Nice find BC Shelby! I've been searching every day since the original post, but you beat me to it
I think the car looks terrific. It's quite a "busy" design and I don't think the colour suits it best, but overall it's great. The interior is brilliant, although the "horseskin" seat covers are a little too 70's Cadillac to this Englishman's eyes!

Checkout the how the rear wings sweep into the tail from above, beautiful.

So..............what happens next? Will Ford put this into production? My guess would be elements will make it, but not the overall design.

Overall a very cool design concept that should hint at some themes for the next refreshing & redesign.
It looks smaller to me as well. I haven't compared dimensions with the Camaro or Challenger, but this Mustang 'looks' smaller, which isn't a bad thing. Also the front end looks to have a little 99-04 influence to it.

that car has some really great lines, of course there are things I would change, but I love it.
Did anyone else notice that the quarter window louver looks to be transparent from the inside?

I told you that cell phone picture wasnt a photoshop.

If you look at some of the exterior shots, you can tell it's tinted glass just like the side windows.

February 2006. Is he that old

...Great design, but something about it bothers me, the view from the top of the car maybe...
