Mach1 Rumor
I'd have to agree the '71-'73 is my least favourite "muscle car era" Mustang. Clearly that red photoshop started life as the '05 Concept....so I'd love to see someone try and give it the '69 look.
BUT, lets face it, IF we get a Mach1 SE, it's going to be based on the current S197 with very few, if any, metalwork changes.

I believe an SE Mach would "echo" the '71-'73 era; honeycomb tail panel, square fogs and possibly the nasa ducts in the hood (no shaker please, it's been done). They may even do a paint or tape treatment on the lower part of the body panels. That's about all.
Not a wind, it's true.
Might go in line with the new BOND with Daniel Craig. This last one is really a rumour!

The next Bond movie with Craig will see again an Aston Martin DBS. I think I saw this latest info on the www.commanderbond.net website.
Filming will start 8th. January.

If they create a new Mach1 , with a 302 or a engine that is unique, and the body style looks good along with a shaker, and priced less than 32 I might sell mine, ( 2004 Screaming Yellow, 7,800 miles, completly stock)
450 HP...?!?! Are you kidding? Needs at LEAST 800 HP to be legit.
Kidding aside, if it looks like this...

...I'd be all over it like a fat guy on a Smartie.

Since the last Mach 1 was made to prop up interest and sales of the SN-95 Mustang while everyone was waiting for the S-197, Ford may pull the same stunt again to prop up 2009 Mustang sales in the face of the next update.
I thought we'd see a Mach1 for 2008/9, but unless Ford releases it soon I don't think it'll happen. Seems the '10 is going to be launched in '09 and there's a chance we may even see it this year at one of the shows.
Pity, I'd like to see an official Mach1 in the current bodystyle.

Since we haven't heard anything about the Mach 1, no rumors, no parts showing up in the Ford database like for the Bullitt, its looks like the Mach 1 is a no show. Ford is probably concentrating its energy on getting the 2010 Mustang out on time, something that is far more important than another limited production SE.
I'm surprised the Mach 1 is MIA. I think this was one SE many people pretty much assumed would happen before the restyle. A 2009 Mach 1 seems a shoe-in to celebrate the 40th Anniversary of the Mach 1's introduction.
You may be correct. If there is going to be a 2009 Mach 1 model, it would have to be production ready TODAY as 2009 production start is only 5 to 6 months away.

However, I guess Ford could base the Mach1 on the Bullitt, mechanically speaking at least. That way the development's done. All it needs are the cosmetic badges etc.
Ford has plenty of stuff they can use to create another SE car, without spending any more money on development.
Hear what, that there is no Mach 1?
At this time last year Ford had pretty much confirmed the Bullitt was coming and the parts that were showing up in the Ford parts database proved the Bullitt was on its way. There is absolutely no evidence of a 09 Mach 1.
2009 is going to be a short model year with the 2010 model coming out in the spring of 2009. There will NOT be a Job 2 SE in the 2009 MY like the Bullitt in the 2008 MY.
