Postive Dealer Story!!!

I know we spend a lot of time bashing dealers (most of it deserved), so I feel the need to also report when a dealer treats customers well.

I had been trying to get a GT 500 at or near sticker since the day the concept was released from all of the dealers in Central TX and obviously had zero luck. Back in Sept. the General Mgr. at a dealership called me saying a buyer had backed out on the exact color GT 500 I wanted and I could have it that day--for $15K over sticker.

I politely declined but asked him about about availability on a Shelby GT (I had pretty much made my mind to go for one of those anyway at this point) and he said that he felt that the Shelby GTs wouldn't sell for a premium and he would get me one of those.

I called on the first day that orders banks opened and ordered one through his dealership and have been waiting ever since for the call informing me that things have changed and they would be adding 5K to 10K adm. Especially since I had absolutely nothing in writing and had been told I didn't need to put down a deposit, or do any paperwork etc.

I finally called this AM to get the final sticker price (already have the VIN) and point blank asked the salesman to tell me now if there would be an ADM added. He told me that once these cars started selling for $$$ over sticker on ebay someone a salesman asked the Gen. Mgr. if they should list my car there and were told that he would honor his word to me about selling me one at sticker. I am NOT a high-roller, nor have I ever bought a car from this dealer before (though I will recommend them in the future).

I can't believe that I'm genuinely happy about paying MSRP for a car seeing how I just bought my wife a new Tahoe in Dec. at $6K under MSRP--but I am.

Shelby website says mine is "en route" now to Shelby Automotive. I can't wait.

Let's hope this in not the only positive story surrounding this vehicle and the dealerships selling them. Oh BTW, congrats!

You can consider yourself an exception if the dealer follows through and does what it is supposed to do to begin with.

With all the compliments I'd put my money on the local Lexus dealer.

Lucky you - far and few dealers like that... The ONLY GREAT deal I ever got on a almost new car was a inside deal because my Dad work for Ford on a six-month old 1986 Thunderbird a Ford rep car with 16,000 miles on it for $8,000 dollars plus tax, Zero mile T-birds at that time were going for about $17,500 so I felt like I got a real good deal... That would never happen again... I have the X-plan and I was recentlysurprized to have a Ford dealer offer me a 2007 Mustang GT ragtop at x - plan price...... Randy Anderson
