Just in case you weren't aware, you can't order the 54U for a Mustang GT. This order code is strictly for Mustang GTs being sent to become Shelby GTs (Many of us have already tried to order a Mustang GT with the 54U the system won't take it)
54U includes: 3:55 gears, 18" polished bullitt wheels, front seat side airbags, GT/CS front and rear bumpers, side scoops, rear spoiler delete.

I'm not trying to order it. I have a GT/CS fully optioned coming this week and I am calculating this.... If I add the FRPP suspension, CAI/Tune, change the grill, hurst shifter, I would have all the equipment the Shelby GT has except badging....... right?

You sould also need to add the new exhaust (which sounds awesome by the way), but yes, as far as perfomance goes you can absolutely recreate a Shelby GT for a lot less than that $40K I paid for mine.
You would have to also do some of the other cosmetic pieces as well (if you wanted) like the tail fin delete, the stripes, the badges, etc.

Yes, you would also need the FRPP Strut Tower Brace, FRPP X-Pipe, FRPP GTA Exhaust and hood pins. Add all those to the list of parts that everyone else has posted and you should have it.

I got all that stuff with my ride. I'll try and scan it in the next day or so and post it here if folks would like

A Shelby GT is more than the sum of its parts. If all you want is something faster and better handling there are other little lost cost mods you can do. What's special about this car, and I find it strange it's not mentioned more, is this car unlike the GT500, is actually done at SAI. While the GT500 is a fine car it's 100% Ford built under license. The Shelby GT actually makes the trek to Vegas where "Shelby Automotive Inc." actually does the work. I think that's a pretty special piece of Mustang history and that's what you pay for.
IMHO!

Hey all,
I know I am bringing this thread back from the dead -- but I have a question...
I am in the market for a new GT, and my guy said he has a Grabber orange GT with the 54U package. Is that real? I thought they were available in only white and black?

Ford only makes the 54U in Black and White and you can't purchase them straight from the dealer (I tried). All 54Us are suppose to go to the Shelby autos facility for conversion to Shelby GTs.

As he was telling me about it, I recall him saying this, almost verbatim:

He said that it was black wheels, no spoiler, all black inside and a plenum cover, he thought.
It might come true that there is one wierd beast out there. I can't wait for Monday!
Would it be worthy of a purchase if it was indeed a 54U in Grabber Orange? I'm gonna see if I can get a pic of the window sticker.
More to follow on this, guys!

Oh! I just remembered that he gave me the VIN of the "Orange 54U" car, so I coould quote my insurance!

I ran it over at Shelby Automobiles VIN locator, and this is what it said.

This is turning out to be a VERY interesting ordeal, especially after reading the above thread.

There is no "Grabber Orange" 54U. There may be a CS and what we have here is another "confused" salesperson. As for the VIN that is what it says it is and SAI would not have it as "Arrived" if it wasn't there and wouldn't have accepted it if it wasn't white or black. What we have here is a cluster in so many ways, so much so, I would find another dealer before you go to pick it up and it turns out to be an orange Fusion. ;-)
