Under the Stang - What to do?

Ok... first things first. I picked-up my Black CS on Monday and all I can say is HOT ****!!! I haven't felt like this about a car in about 20 years! I am honered to join all of you at the top!

Here's my question - I noticed that the axle and some other components are showing bare metal (no paint). What are you doing with the underbody components of the car? I'm thinking about having the axle painted black and getting a chrome diff. cover. What are your thoughts? Are there any other components that should be weather protected?

Don't worry about protecting the axle unless you want it to look pretty. It would take 100 years for it to rust through, that surface rust is harmless. But if you want it to look pretty, a little black rustoleum would work as long as you get all the surface rust off first. You could also try POR-15 which works better if there IS rust on the surface. It's a little pricey, but it works GREAT.

What Steve said... You have nothing to worry about. Just appearance concerns only. I do think that a chrome pumpkin cover would look good

Thanks Steve,

I might try the rustoleum. I'm not so concerned about rust damage, I was just curious what others are doing for the look. I don't want anything to look rusty. I'm planning to enter in the local car shows. Nothing exotic, just for fun.

Sounds like a plan! I haven't done anything to mine, but I have only been in one show 2 days after I picked it up from the dealer. I drove there to go to the show with no intentions of entering and my GF's mom (has a sweet 66 red 'stang in the show) convinced me to enter after I got it there. I did it and won "Coolest Cruiser" award, got a plaque and everything! It was more of a car cruise than an actual show, but it was a good memory from when I first got the car!!
