On the subject of spark plugs ...

My GT-CS is going to be crossing the 60 grand mark before snow flies , and I decide to investigate the price and availability on plugs for my car. Mine is the newer plug that's supposed to be 1 piece, and when I went to the dealer, they wanted 20 bucks a piece retail for them and the best I could find price wise was 14 bucks and some change a piece for new plugs! I want to keep this car as original as I can so I prefer Motorcraft . Is this the norm for plugs these days or am I going to see or hear better deals?

I know those plugs are expensive but I haven't priced any because I thought they were supposed to be 100k plugs.

A bunch of stuff on cars these days is 100k stuff, just to make life easier. However, many people change their plugs before then because the plugs in our Mustangs are 2 piece and sometimes can be notorious for breaking, or just being an all around pain in the butt to r&r.

I had to pull my stockers out when I went to the blower and at that time with around 20k on the clock I was shaking like a dog ****ting razor blades when they came out, but ultimetly they did after following the TSB. I put the HTO's in at that time which are the two piece design as well. I ended up swapping these out for the Brisk one piece design and yes they are a bit pricy but worth the piece of mind knowing they will come back out without breaking. I do belive that Champion does make a stock heat range one piece replacement as well that may be a bit cheaper.

Good luck and follow the TSB to the "T" or be prepared for an expensive trip to the stealer ship to get the broken ones out.

I thought the newer plugs were changed to a one piece design

They were changed on the production models after Oct. 2008.

^^How can I find out for sure? Ford refers to the early plugs as 16mm "High thread" and the later plugs as 12mm and says they can be identified by the coil engineering number. From that I'm assuming the later 12mm plugs are the one piece. If so, then that Oct. 2008 date is not accurate as my car was built in Dec 2007 yet has the newer coil engineering number. Are the 12mm plugs also two piece?
