My apologies Joseph, but your poor GT/CS covered in all that snow lol. Perhaps something like a breathable car cover might be a possible solution until your able to get that shop built as a nice place for putting her in when not being driven

Is a pretty picture. Snow on the car goes away fast when the sun breaks if you only clean the wind shield off. I've used covers in snow, they work to hold snow from sliding off in the sun too besides protecting from acid rain, dust, etc. Just my opinion, but even a simple shed roof would ease the load on the cloth top. Good time now to not be building I think after talking to a buddy that builds, lumber is crazy now.

We got an inch, most gone now, but family in SW Va got more and a cousin over near Princeton said he got a foot?

Morning everyone,

man the time has flown. It's been 8 months since my last post and I've still nothing new to update. tbrear thanks for the comment. I can't believe still that lumber cost what it does. I've still got the shop project on the list and a remodel in the basement that I feel will be on hold for a long time.

GTCS runs great and still brings smiles for miles every time I drive it. It isn't much but here is a shot I took while on HWY 1 yesterday. I do a lot of driving up the coast for work. Wasn't the best of day's but it was much cooler than home.

Cheers all and I hope everyone is safe and healthy.

Morning TMS,

Got a bit of bad news to give but there is ultimately good surrounding it. The good is I am still standing and, for the most part un harmed. The bad, yesterday at 11:30 am I was T-Boned in my beloved Cal Special while driving out to the coast. Guy simply didn't look both ways when entering the hwy I was on. Oddly the body didn't take much damage. Some scratches and smears but only a minor crease in the qtr panel. The impact was square into the rear wheel. Wheel is trashed and I suspect there might be a bent axle shaft or even housing. 1 second in either direction and the car would undoubtable be totaled. It still might be given cost of the qtr panel and it's unique size. End of the day the insurance company wont care what I've got into it and will only value it as a GT for its year. Crossing fingers it wont be but if it is I'll figure that out when that time comes. Still drives well considering... however I do noticed a high speed vibe from that size indicating the damaged wheel or axle.

End of the day it's just a car and neither of us were injured beyond my whiplash and damaged pride. Cars can be replaced but we cant be.

Anyhow,

Stay tune on how this goes.

Cheers friends

Nemi

Sorry to read about your CS getting T-boned Joseph, but like you said, cars can always be replaced, people can not. At the end of the day, nobody was seriously injured which is what matters more than anything else. Meanwhile, from what you described, it doesn't seem that your car would be considered as totaled from either a bent axle shaft or housing, knowing the impact was square into the rear wheel.

In the meantime, I'll be keeping my fingers crossed that the insurance company comes through for you..

Thanks Rocky,

We've got a good body shop we use and they are already on top of it. Insurance is a good carrier so I am confident they will do what they can. If it's just hard parts I should be okay.

Really appreciate the feedback,

Cheers

I hope all will be OK with the GT/CS. You wonder how many 10+ year old examples are left out there.

Morning gents,

Thanks for the replies. I take it to the body shop on Monday and pick up my rental. Insurance of the person who hit me already has a claim and is working to get this fixed. They have been real helpful up to this point.

Cheers

All I can say is Wow sounds like the car did its best to save you. Glad to hear you are ok and no one was seriously hurt. Sounds like there is still hope for the car. You had put in a lot of work to get it to where you had it. It was in very nice shape! Hope it can be correctly brought back to where it was. Too nice of car to loose. Best of wishes on a successful and positive outcome.

Thanks for the updates Joseph! It appears both the body shop and insurance companies are working on getting everything squared away and resolved for you. Meanwhile, we'll be looking forward to further updates

Likely fixable, but if hit hard enough to tweak an axle shaft (friend of mine did it to an 8.8 in his Mustang's right rear just by bumping a concrete curb in the snow, another buddy's new '71 GTO arrived new off the truck with a bent left axle shaft, and sometimes they just snap off instead of bending), make sure they look at not only axle housing, but rear suspension points for all three control arms, the arms, and track bar and it's mount at the frame.

^^^ Excellent advice Tbear. The work MUST be done right or the ownership experience will go right down the drain.

Car was left with the body shop today. I have 100% confidence it'll get fixed to it's formal glory if it can be.

The first and biggest let down I've come across is the Shelby CS40 wheels I bought are no longer in production. Not sure what that means for the repair but I really don't want to go wheel shopping again.

The Rental I was given could have been worse. 2020 Charger in white. At least I have something fun'ish to drive around while I wait.

Stay tuned as I'll update as I learn more.

Chees and thanks for all the feedback and advice.

Wheel shopping can be a pain when you are happy with what you have.
Is that rental Charger a Hemi by chance? That would be really cool but probably a 6 cylinder.

Hey NC ,

Same 3.6 that's in my Jeep JKU. Only this one is a bit more peppy than the Jeep. A hemi would have made it much better for sure.

Hey NC,

Sorry for the long delay. Things have been nuts around here. I literally just got off the phone with the body shop 10 mins ago. I get to pick it up tomorrow. ****ty part of all this, the CS40's are no longer avaiableable new or used. The right rear is damaged beyone repair. Usable but will never look new. They did have it repaired to remove most of the gouges but it'll never look the same as the other 3. The Body Shop is putting together a quote on 4 Shelby Wheels that look the same and I'll just get a check to cover 4 new ones of my choice.

gotta say I am super eager to get it back. We are in the 4th week of it being away.

Cheers and thanks for the follow up request.

Thanks! The Shelby wheels sure are a sweet replacement. I'd certainly be OK with that. We all hope the car is as 'perfect' as possible when you pick it up.
