Brake upgrade for GT/CS

What would you guys recommend for a brake system upgrade on the GT/CS? I'm thinking about 14" front and 13" rear. Thanks.

Are you having trouble stoping? Or something for looks?

No problems, I've just been hearing that I might want to consider upgrading the brakes to 14" on the front and 13" on the rear. A change in looks might not be bad either. Just thinking about it and wondering what others are doing.

That was my first thought. My friend (who works at an auto shop) told me that I should change mine too. I said WHAT FOR? They work, right?

Brake upgrades are pretty expensive. I would not do anything because someone told you it would be a good idea. If you feel the brakes are lacking then do an upgrade, otherwise leave them as is. Besides with brakes the stopping distance is not decrased all that much with upgrades. The difference in a lot of cases is more consistent stopping power over repeated applications in a situation such as track driving. Less brake fade and better handling of heat and disappation of heat.

Well said!! I installed aftermarket brake pads on my '01 Lincoln LS and what I didn't consider is that the pads needed to be at a fairly high level of heat to really work well.....normal driving around town didn't keep them hot enough and as a result the braking was actually worse in everyday driving worst mod I ever did to that car.....

Have you considered just painting your existing calipers?

With some of the large 14" brakes you might have issues with the caliber and wheel clearance, unless you plan on replacing the wheels at the same time.

Another thing is that if you get bigger brakes, will your doughnut spare work???
Bummer with a flat and no spare. That is the problem with the Cobra, they have a special kit, fix a flat and 12v inflater. Not good if you rip out a side wall.
