Unhappy After-market wheels and tire pressure sensors

just received my GT 40 chrome wheels, and found out goodrich could not mount because of tire pressure sensors. Ford can, but new bands for sensor cost $70 PER WHEEL! Anyone else have this experience, or did Freedom Ford see me coming?

You can remove and refit the sensors on your new wheels, but you will either need to get the replacement bands from Ford, or use a make-a-clamp hose clamp kit. You can get these for about $6 if I remember rightly?

See thread here

It's straightforward enough to do. The Ford clamps are basically v.long hose clamps, but you may need a special crimp tool to secure them?

Yep... sensors are reusable. You'll just have to purchase the metal bands

No problem amigo

I found out about it as I have the same issue. I've got a set of GT500 wheels to replace my 18" Bullitts. I'm fitting the GT500 brakes, so need the backspace!

I seen one this morning it's the base of the valve stem that is inside the tire, I think if the stem fits it can be changed but you may need to get a seal kit with the proper O rings, and who ever does it should have a wand that they calibrate each wheels sending unit with the cars pc , so it jnows which tire is which. cool but a more of a pain & cost then to change over.

There are 2 types of TPMS. One is a cradle type, which is held on with the band I referred to, the other is a valve fitment.

To the best of my knowledge, the 07 (and perhaps late 06) cars have the cradle type. Are you sure the wheels you saw were from a late 06/07 Mustang GT?
