Kdbdallas - yes I did sand the "raw" metal of the cutout to smooth it somewhat (although not necessarily needed due to the rings). The kit supplies you with a black formed plastic upper & lower 2inch wide rings that you fit over the cutout edges along with 4 rivets to "seal" the rings in place. Additionally they provide you with this 3M super stick tape to "set" the upper ring and then snap the lower ring from underneath the hood for the 4 rivets. Fairly easy to do until you drop one of the small rivets and have to go find a replacement - important safety installation tip, eh?

Lived near Kaiserslautern in the early 1980s (we called it K-Town) when I was flying in the USAF (had a 1979 Stingray - oh well, have crossed over from the Dark Side of GM to the ways of the Force with the Mustang)! Nice pic of your Mustang.
