For example, there is little to choose between: written especially for Jonathan and | written specially for Jonathan, and neither is more correct than the other.

Great observation, MR. English major. If you will notice, I intentionally included ALL definitions when I "cut & pasted" so as not to hide any possible uses. I also stated that the BEST use in the aforementioned post would be "Especially", which is more closely matched to the context of the statement than "specially".
